[G#] [D#] [F#] As prolific as Randy Rogers is at writing songs, [B] he also knows when he hears a good one.
Fellow Texan Keith [C] [C#] Gattis penned this homage to the Alamo City.
It's called [F#] San Antone.
The guys tell us why the song ended up on Nothing Shines Like Neon.
[B] I asked Keith to send me some songs when we were talking about recording this [C#] album, and
he sent me one song, [F#] and it was this San Antone.
You know, the minute that I heard it, I knew it [E] was mine.
I knew that I had to cut it.
[B] I knew that I should have wrote it.
I [C#] grew up in Cleburne, Texas, and then moved south [F#] right here in San Marcos.
Went to college here, and San Antonio was kind of like date night.
That's where you fell in [B] love.
That's where you spent the weekend.
It's the [C#] food, the culture, the people.
[G#m] I love everything about [F#] San Antonio.
We've actually, as a band, 15 years of doing this, we've never had a song about Texas.
[B] This is our first [A#m]
tribute [G#m] to our home state.
We're [E] obviously very proud to [B] be Texans.
I [C#] can't think of a better city to have the song [F#] after San Antone.
[G] San Antone, here you go.
[C] [G]
I wish you'd been good to me
While I'd lie as far as you [C] can see
But there's a girl from down [Em] around 14
Once [C] beat me down [D] on Frio [G] Street
San [C]
Antone, [G] San Antone
I've [D] been gone [C] for way too long
But you gotta go, [D] and you gotta [Em]
go
[G] Like [C] a rocket at [D] the [Em] Alamo
[C] You found me [D] down in [G] San Antone
Where I come from, those cowboys know
Just how to roll right with [C] the flow
The Shatterfuck and
[Em] Domino
The
[C] Reckless on [D] the [G] radio
San [C] Antone, San [G] Antone
I've [D] been gone [C] for way too long
But you gotta go, [D] and you [Em] gotta go
[C] Like a rocket [G] at the [Em] Alamo
You [C] found me down [D] in [G] San Antone
[C] Once
[G] [A] [G]
[D]
[C] [D] [G]
I reset Frio Street
I'm gonna kiss the ground beneath my [C]
feet
And then find a band with the [Em] fiddle man
Dance [C] to [G] every song I can
[C]
San Antone, [G] San Antone
[D] I've been [C] gone for way too long
But you gotta go, [D] and you [Em] gotta go
[C] Like a rocket [G] at the [Em] Alamo
You [C] found me down [D] in San [G] Antone
[C] Someday when [D] you lay me [Em] low
[C] Like a rocket [D] at the [Em] Alamo
[C] Lay me down [G] in San Antone
