[D] [G] Welcome back to the blend.
[Em] He's played with Poison, he's opened for the Stones,
and tonight he's playing Vegas.
See the fusion of sounds tonight at VAMP.
That's right.
Singer, songwriter, guitarist Richie Kotzen is here with us now with the boys.
[Db] May I ask?
Yes.
My wonderful band.
Introduce us.
I drug them out of bed.
Mike Bennett plays the drums and the cajon,
and Dylan Wilson plays the bass, upright and electric.
I'm curious because you're in the midst of a tour right now.
Do you guys do the bus thing?
Do you do separate hotel rooms?
We do the bus thing.
And how does it work with these guys?
They're great.
We've been together for six years.
You and I have been playing together for over seven.
And it'll be six for Dylan come October.
So we know each other well.
We spend a lot of time overseas traveling.
And we've been through it all.
A lot of stories.
You got to share with us what it was like to open for the Stones.
It was surreal.
I did that in 2006.
And when I got the opportunity, I really didn't tell anyone
until after I got there and played the first show.
There was like five shows we did.
After I did the first one, I thought, all right, well, now it happened.
I know I've done it.
I've done it.
So then I can talk about it.
But I was worried I'd get over there.
And then, you know, we don't want this.
Nobody knows.
Up until then, they never had an opener in Japan.
It's common in Japan to not have an opener.
So I think what I was told then, I was the only opener that the Stones had in Japan.
No kidding.
Yeah, so I was worried about that.
I thought I'll get there and they'll say, well, we don't like openers.
And we're at home.
Can I ask, even more amazing than opening [Bm] for the Stones,
your music's been used in Japanese commercials.
Japanese TV commercials are the greatest thing ever made.
Was it a whacked out commercial?
I don't know.
I didn't see any of them.
I never see those things.
I had a couple of songs, I guess, that they wanted to use,
and then they just called the manager and they cut a deal.
And, you know, I never saw them.
You ought to pull those up on YouTube.
I did something for like a Home Depot thing or something.
I did something for or sang something.
There's been a couple, but I don't remember.
You're like, I don't know, I just did a check.
You have a new video, though.
Speaking of videos, My Rock?
Yeah, I got a song on the record called My Rock that's,
I'm known as a guitar player,
but on this record there's a few songs that I wrote on the piano.
So that's one.
There's no guitar actually in the entire song.
It's just piano, drums, and bass, and a whole lot of vocals.
So it's normal for many artists, but for me,
known as a guitar player, I guess it's something new.
It's cool, though.
It's a nice challenge, and it's nice to be challenged this far in your career.
Are you going to perform [C] for us now?
I know you're performing at VAMP tonight.
I am, yeah.
What are you going to perform for us now?
I'm going to play a song called I Would.
All right.
All right, you will.
And I will.
I [G]
[Am] [G] [F]
[C] feel like a prisoner
[G] In my own [Am] life
[G] I'm too tired to [F] break away
[C] The days seem darker
[G]
Than they used to [Am] be
[G] It gets harder [F] every day
[Em] I could turn it [Am] all around I [Em] would
Get my feet back [Bb] on the ground
[F] I [C] would, [Dm] I would find [Bb] what it means
[F] To be satisfied
[C] I would, [Dm] I would search [Bb] my soul in need
[F] To find peace in [C] my hour
[Dm] I would try [Bb] to believe
[F] In a higher [Bb] power
But it's [F] easier
[Fm] Easier [C] to let it be
[Am]
[F] [Fm] Days [F] [C]
seem longer
[G] And time still rushes [Am] by
I'm [G] not where I [F] want to be
I'm [C] almost standing
[G]
Not enough to [Am] see
I [G] guess lost is [F] all I am
If [Em] I could turn it [Am] all around I would
[Em] Get my feet back [Bb] on the ground
[F] I [C] would, [Dm] I would find [Bb] what it means
[F] To be satisfied
[C] I would, [Dm] I would search my [Bb] soul in need
[F] To find peace in my [C] hour
[Dm] I would try [Bb] to believe
[F] In a higher power
[Bb] But it's easier
[F]
[Fm] Easier [C] to let it be
[Am]
[F] It's [Fm] easier [C] to let it be [N] Yes!
That was awesome.
Fantastic.
Thank you so much.
Real deal.
