[A]
Well, my name is Ricky Skaggs, [B] an older gentleman these days.
[E] Almost 54 years I've [A] been playing music, so it's not unusual [F#] to see something hanging
around my neck [D] or sitting on my [A] lap like a guitar any time of the day.
[F]

[E] [G]
[A] [G]
[A]
[F#m] Well, this is my studio [D] where we're at today [A] and I [F#] love [D] making music here.
This is [A] the most fun [B] place, it's the most
[E] creative [A]
place that I think I've ever been in.
There's just like [D] almost a portal [C] here, an [A] openness of creativity.
[F#] Everyone that comes in here [D] loves to be here, [A] they love to play here.
[C] [E]
[Bm] [A]
Music is really art, I mean it truly is, it's a [C] gift.
[F#m] [A] [Am]

[D] [Em] [A]
[Em]
[E] Making [D] music [Am] for me, [Dm] it's not just a [Am] commercial [A] entity, it's an expression of my heart,
it's an expression of my life, my feelings, my faith.
[G] [A] It's an [Am] expression of my love [D] for mankind and [C] for friends and for people,
[D] but more than anything it's my love for God.
[Em] I just [G] can't [D] remember a day without [A] music and I couldn't [E] imagine a day without music.
[F#m]
[E] [G]
[D]
[A] [E] This guitar is [G] a PRS [A]
[B] Angelus cutaway.
[E]
I started working with Paul Reed Smith [Am]
about [E] almost six years ago I guess now.
He said, I'm [A] looking to get [E]
involved in making acoustic guitars
and from all the scuttlebutt out [G] on the road, you're the [A] go-to guy.
[B] You're the guy [E] that knows about acoustic guitars.
I thought, I play [A] mandolin.
[E]
[A] I love this guitar and I love working with Paul.
He has a different way of [Am] carving the top.
[D]
His tone bracing on the inside is different than [Am] anyone else's.
[Em] Sworn to secrecy, I'd have to kill you if I told [A] you.
[D]
[C] [G] [Am]
[A] Well I've been test driving the Lyric for [D] about [A] four months now.
[Em]
[A] [Em] In every environment, [F#m] [A] at a church, [D] at a little [G] club, a casino.
[A] [B]
I've played it with symphonies now.
I've played it [Em] everywhere I can really play [B] it.
In every environment that I've been in, it's been great.
No feedback,
[E] plenty of volume.
[F#m] My sound man has [B] been very, very happy with it.
[E]
[B]
[Em] Moving around all over the stage, [B] [E]
my sound [B] doesn't change.
[E] I don't have to depend on standing in front of a mic.
[B]
I love it.
It's really worked for me.
I think it could [E] work for anybody out there.
[D] [Em]
[B] As [D] Bluegrass players, [E] [B] we are very critical [F#m] of our instruments.
[Em] Get a great instrument.
Get something that really, really [B] sounds awesome.
And then amplify that.
This Lyric is the best I've found so [Em] far.
