Now welcome to Vanderbilt calm there was a discussion on the forum about their red hot
Robert Johnson song and I used to play this as a warm-up for acoustic stuff all the time so
You know this is probably not exact, but it's pretty close to the way Robert Johnson played it
so
Should be able to pick it up pretty quickly with just a little bit of practice.
Let's take a look
[Fm]
[G] [Am] [C]
[A] You
[E] [G]
[C] [F] [A]
[G] [C]
[N]
Okay
First of all this the song uses almost [C] entirely down strokes like like this
[D]
And when it varies from that I'll let you know you're gonna start off with C chord instead of playing this C bar C
at the third fret like this you're just gonna bar the
The D
GB and E strings at the fifth fret then you take your pinky or your ring finger come down and get that
E string a threat which is the C right [C] and then you get this sound
so that's what he's doing at the beginning, and it's just
the beginning of the intro is just
[Ab] and then to a regular D chord at the fifth [D] fret a
Regular G chord like this at the [G] third fret
[N] Then a C [C] and [Eb] [F] F
[N]
And then this chord which is a D minor 7
[Bb] Dash 5 you're just barring the
The GB and E [C] strings at the first fret and the only thing you're doing differently here is you've been playing all down [F] strokes
[B] When you get to this you play it with two up strokes
[Fm] [B] And then you go to a g7 [G] chord, so that's the only part where you really break that rhythm so slowly the introduction is
[C]
[G] [Fm]
[G] [Eb] And you're ready to go into the main [C] verse
okay, and the verse you are using that same C chord like this and
[N] The same down strokes, and you're gonna [C] play and [G] then move it down one fret and that's [B] actually B chord right
[E] And then down two frets which is an a [A] chord
[B] And then play an a7 [G] chord like this
[N] All right, [Bb] then a [D] d7 [G] a g7 so [Ab] [C]
all together slowly, that's like this
[B]
[A] [D] [C]
[Bb] [A]
[E] [C] [N] And then the the second time he sings that through you know in the same verse the ending is slightly different
So slowly it just goes like [C] this
[B]
[A] [D] [Gbm]
He's hanging on that d7 and [G] then the g7
[A] [D]
[G] And you get the little [C] sort of bridge part, and you know [Em] I got a woman
[Gb] That's just you're just playing a C [C] chord
So so you got a one strike on the C, [Bb] and then you pause rest and [C] then you've got
[Gb] That's a C.
And then a c7 [C] so so
[F] [D] then you're just going from the c7 to the the F
[F]
[C] And then you're just going to that D minor 7-5
So that part is just
[F] [Fm] [Ab] your big [C] tape
[A] [G] [C]
And that's [Eb] pretty much the whole song have fun
[N]
