Yeah, this is where I come at to thank you.
I got a chance to take home that hardware, but once again that was a fan voted award.
So thank you guys for helping me get that one as well.
I don't know how to say thank you so much.
But, the ACM's were on Sunday that year and I got down to Las Vegas on Saturday.
And when you're my age in Las Vegas, I got a whole lot to do.
_ So I'm chillin' there and guys you'll understand, you never think this show can get boring.
But after watching SportsCenter six or seven times in a row, _ it's still better than like saying yes to the dress and yes to the_
Oh, I got a sister, golly.
_ But I had to get out, I mean I was chillin' in the hotel room all day and I was like I gotta do something.
So I called my manager and was like look what can I do?
And she said well let me give you some minutes to make some calls and see what I got.
And ten minutes later she called me and said, Sky would you like to go see Garth Brooks tonight?
_ I said heck yeah.
Golly.
So I packed up real quick and went on down to the window to go see Garth Brooks.
And what a treat for me as a young artist to sit there and watch a living legend sit there and go to [Gm] work.
I mean the guy, I can learn so [G] much from that guy just sitting there watching.
[D] He's just sitting there, [G] it's him on the guitar and he's singing.
And you gotta understand when I go out public now, I mean [Bm] I got the [D] hat on, the shades, don't [C] nobody notice me.
Mr.
Incognito.
[G] And about midway through [A] his set though I got a tap on my shoulder and I looked [Em] back and it's a girl.
So I'm thinking alright, cup is blown, how you doing, [D] hey.
And she said Sky?
And I said [G] hey, yeah that's me.
[F] She says hey I'm August [D] Brooks, Garth's daughter.
Hello.
[G] How [Gm] you doing?
_ _ [D] Things you [G] don't expect to hear.
Alright so automatically I'm like what's going on here.
So she's talking, she said she doesn't know I was in Las Vegas [C] but she was there that weekend and didn't [D] know I was coming but glad she was a fan.
And she [Bm] said Sky do you, [A] after the show you wanna come back and meet my dad?
_ [G] I said heck yeah.
Goodness [C] gracious.
[G] So I'm sitting there, I get up after the show y'all and I'm going backstage to [C] meet Garth.
Y'all gotta [G] understand I don't know how I didn't just come out of my booths, I was shaking so much.
But I go back down and I'm talking to this dude and I'm just taping it all in and I'm like wow, I can't believe [D] this is happening.
But he's just [C#] sitting there and he's [G] talking to me but he's also eating pineapple.
[C] And my only thought [G] was that's pretty damn [Am] cool.
_ [D] Now [G] _ [Bm] [D] if he was eating Pop-Tarts I'd have been even more amazed with the pineapple he's eating.
[C] _ [Bm] But that night when he was [A] talking to us he expressed that this next song we're gonna sing for [Bm] y'all is his favorite song [G] he ever did and that one means the most to him.
[C] And it's cool to me [C#] because I think this is [D] one of the greatest country songs ever written [G] so y'all help me out, alright?
[C] _ [G] I'm looking back on [C] the memory of [E] the [D] dance we shared beneath [G] the stars above.
[D] [G] For a moment all [C] the world was right.
Now how [D] could I have known that [C] you'd ever say [D] goodbye.
[C] And now I'm glad I [D] didn't know the way it all [Bm] would end, the way it all [C] would go.
[D] Now [C] our lives, they're better left [D] to chance.
I could have [Bm] missed the pain, but I'd have had [C] to miss [Bm] the [G] _ [C] [G] dance.
[C] _ _ _
[G] Oh, baby, I, I [C] feel every pain.
For [D] that [G] moment, [D] I [G] wasn't that great.
[D] [G] But if I'd only known how [C] everything would fall.
_ [D] And who's to say, you know [C] I might have changed [D] it all.
[C] And now I'm glad I [D] didn't know the way it [Bm] all would end, the way it all [C] would [D] go.
