I'm Nick Harcourt and we're here with Shaky Graves, but you have a real name as well.
Yeah, my parents didn't name me Shaky Graves.
Yeah, that would be weird.
Yeah, it would be a little hard.
Alejandro.
Alejandro, yeah.
Can you describe the feeling you get when you play music?
The way that I've started to do it is that it's sort of a rediscovery on stage.
I'll write a song and then when you get thrown in a room with a bunch of people,
I like to change it and let the kind of audience dictate where that goes a lot of the time.
You're going to play a song called Only Sun.
Only Sun was a song that is sort of about kind of my career and life right now too.
Is that I've done a lot of stuff as a one man band and as a solo artist for,
you know, in my recordings and everything.
I would record all the parts and I could be really meticulous and precious
and put together whatever I wanted and I felt like that was really important for a while.
And then I started learning how to collaborate with people.
And then also just started getting older and realizing that, you know, even in my family,
like my siblings and my grandparents and everything like that, that I'm not an only son,
so to speak, that I'm part of a family in a lot of senses.
And that has, you know, responsibility and a lot of crazy stuff.
Being loved and loving somebody is a pretty intense thing and no one's really alone in that.
So that's kind of what the song's about.
[G] Only Sun
[C]
[Gm] Yeah, my heart was but [D] a stranger
[C] Yeah, [G] and wallowed in the races won
[Em]
[C] Yeah, [G] and it craved
the petty [C] dangers
[G] [D] And it sat alone
Then find [C] and ponder
All my chosen roads
It had to wander
[G] [C] Oh,
[Em] [C]
I [E]
[G] used to be a [D] lonely [C] son If [G] my heart was broke [D] again, but
[G] Oh, heavy as a loaded [C] gun [G] Without a muff, [C] the weather
And its evil ways, let [C] me forget And [E] this dirty blood will [C] burn forever
In us together
[G] [C]
[E] [G] [C]
[E] [C] Oh, [Em]
