Start Jamming...
She Ain't In It is a single off of John Party's record California Sunrise and it was written by Clint Daniels and Wynn Varble.
The song's in the key of F.
On the acoustic guitar we'll capo to the third fret so we can play nice open key of D chords.
We've got a pretty straightforward strumming pattern and a couple different chord progressions we'll learn throughout the song.
On the electric guitar we've got a lot of lead guitar parts
that you hear on the record that are played on the electric guitar.
Then we'll also mimic a lot of those really prominent fiddle and pedal steel riffs.
[Am] [Dm] [F]
Appreciate your call
Means a lot and all
[Dm] Yeah I got a minute
[C] You and me can talk
About anything you want
Only [Am] she ain't in [Dm]
[F] it
You say it's been at least a month
Since I had any fun
[Bb] But buddy [F] I'll admit it
[Bb] Don't wanna hear her name
Wanna see her face [F] I swear
I [Bb] know it's gonna hurt
If I run into her [C] somewhere
[F]
[F] [D] [G]
[Cm] [F]
Don't [Bb] wanna hear her name
Wanna see her face I [F] swear
[Bb] I know it's gonna hurt
If I run into her [C] somewhere
[F] I can drink and I can dance
Alright for the acoustic guitar part let's get a capo on the third fret
And we've got a key of D chords here
Most of them pretty familiar
Let's go over [Bb] what we're gonna need for this [C] verse first of all
[F] Alright
We've got a standard D chord
We're in standard tuning then we've got the open D string
Two frets above the capo on G
Three frets above and two frets above
For a standard D chord
[Gm] Then when we get into a verse you'll see us play an E minor 7
Which is open low E string
Second fret of A, second of D, open G
Third of B, third of high E
[C] And an A7
We'll mute this low E string
Open A, [Gm] second fret of D, open [E] G
Second fret of B, open high [C] E
[F] And then we get back to this D and then when we move into choruses
You'll see us play a D7
Which is open D string
[Eb] Second fret of G
First fret [A] of B
Second fret of high E
My right hand a little bit of a palm mute on that mute
[F] Down up, mute
Up, down, up, down, up, down, up, mute
Up, down, up, down, up, down, up, mute
Up, down, up, down, up, down, up, mute
Up, down, up, down, up
Alright then we're gonna launch into a verse
When John Party starts singing
And when that happens
We'll follow the progression that we talked about
D to E minor 7 to A7 and back to D
And the first time, the first verse
We go through the progression twice
So let's play through it now
It's the exact same strum pattern
So I won't kind of muddy it up by singing down and up the whole time
Because we already know that
I'll call out the chord changes, alright?
So here we go
1, 2, verse 1, go
D to [Gm] the E minor 7 to the [C] A7
[F]
Verse 1, [Gm] E minor 7
In this tutorial we're gonna go over the bridge solo in She Ain't In It
This is split up between the pedal steel
And the electric guitar on the recording
[B] But we're a guitar website
So we're gonna take a crack at mimicking that pedal steel part
And then playing, you know, the electric guitar part
As close as we can to note
For note, this is all tabbed out beneath the video player
Tickstreetcountry.com
For tone, we're gonna be on our bridge pickup
We've got some compression on there
A good amount of delay
I think I've got eighth note triplet delay on here
And a good bit of reverb
[A] And just, you know, it's really not a whole lot of overdrive
Just maybe a little bit of a boost
A little bit of tube overdrive
Just to get it sustaining a little bit
And here's how it looks
Let's play through it nice and slow but in tempo
Then we'll go through it note by note
And then at full speed with the metronome
1, 2, 3, 4
[F] [Bb]
[Am]
[Eb] [C]
[Eb] Alright, for this outro solo
It's kind of a back and forth between the pedal steel and the fiddle
We mimic the fiddle part pretty close
And some of the pedal steel riff's pretty close
And then, just to be honest, I wrote a bit of a solo at the end here
I just made one up
That's pretty steely
And just trying to think through it if I were playing this live
And we didn't have the pedal steel and the fiddle
Something that I would do on the electric guitar
Alright, so let's jump right in here
This comes in after that final verse
For the outro solo
This is all tabbed out right beneath the video player
