For those of you not seen this extravaganza before it's this is just a result of a man giving up drinking
It should give you some idea of what my habit was when I tell you I've got another about 75 guitars in another room at home
[D] I've been sober now for 30 years.
I got my Keith Richards merit badge and I figured I'd give it a rest
I'd taken it as [G] far as I could
[A]
[G] The distilleries were worried
And
Molson brewery in Toronto that the summer I quit drinking they laid off.
This is a fact.
They laid off 2,000 workers
It's probably just a coincidence
But I got a letter from Glenlivet distillery in Scotland and they just it was basically just was it something we said
and then
there's a lovely whiskey from Isle of Skye called talisker that I really drank a lot of and I
Came up with a special issue of 12 year old single malt talisker with my picture on the side.
Have you seen this boy?
[Gm] It's embarrassing
[C] [G] The songs based on two principles first of which is never invest in anything that
eats while you sleep and
The second one is never go to a horse auction if you've got any kind of a nervous facial tick.
So
It's a true story
[A] [G]
[G]
Well, you've no business buying a mare like that but by her if you must
I bit the end off his cigar and he spat it in the dust
She's old.
She's lame.
She's barren too.
She's not worth feed or hay
But I'll give her this a blue smoke at me
She was something in her day.
I
Recall her well ten years ago.
She was a winner in her prime
She was fast and lean and willing all they raced her past her time
And though she had the heart her legs were gone
Wasn't hard to see they kept her out in the hopes of just one more
small victory
And she was shunted round from track to track from Kentucky up to Maine
They'd run her in cheap clamors all doped up to mask her pain and if it's my advice
You want I'd say the poor things had a day
Throwing good cash after bad
Best to turn away
Well, they let her round the auction shed and the bidding started low
Yeah, she'll go for dog food.
Someone said
The markets been that slow
But she raised her head she pricked her ears and before the hammer fell
She was mine
My friend turned around to me
You're soft-headed.
I can tell
She's been shoved from pillar to post said I always done her best
They used her up they wrung her dry you'd think she'd earned a rest
So if she does not but end her days beneath some shady tree
I'll have saved her from the knackers yard
That's enough for me.
[A] [G] [C]
[G]
[Gm]
[G] I
Was near two years ago
She's filled out some since then
The more so since she's been in full she eats enough [A] for ten
And this [G] morn as I crept to the barn
Around about half-past three there's stood nursing on still trembling legs
one more
small victory
[D] [Gm] [G]
