[Am] [F]
[Am] [E] Hello friends, Hal here.
[A] Today we're doing [Am] the Force theme from Star Wars.
Let's go over
the chords [Am] really quick here.
First we have an A minor chord, right?
Just a regular A
minor chord, to [D] a D chord, and then [E] an E chord, like that.
[A] And then we go back to A [Am] minor,
and [C] then we do an A minor with a G bass.
The G bass is [G] found on the third fret right here.
I do it [E] with my little finger.
[Am]
[F] And then we have an F chord.
I use the bar because I get
that really low F note.
And then [Am] back to A minor,
[E] back to E, [A] and then A minor again.
[Am] [E] So what we've got here is our melody goes like this.
[A] [B]
[C] [E] [A] [Bm]
[D] [A]
[Am]
[A] Like that, right?
So you'll notice,
let's just talk [Am] about that a little bit.
[E] You'll notice that my hand didn't move very much
from the A minor position.
[A] I can actually keep my hand right [B] here, lift my finger up,
[Cm] came out [E] of the A minor position for a second, go back to the A minor position, [Am] right?
[Em] Right
there?
[D] That's all in that A minor chord.
And then I guess I could use my little finger
right there, but I [A] wanted to come out of that position, [E] [Am]
[D] right?
[E] And then I go back to the
A minor [B] position, [Am]
and then I went here, 5-5, because it's actually an easier transition
than 1-5.
Like that's a really big stretch, right?
So I did [E] 5 [Am]-5
[A] like that with different
fingers, and then back to here, and back to the A minor position.
[Am] And here, [E] I don't even
have to move my hand.
Now, all of that chord, we actually have an A minor chord going to
an E chord, back to A minor.
[Am]
[E] [A] [Em] So ideally, you don't want all of those notes to ring [Am] like
[E] that, because that would be just an A minor chord, and we have to go to an E chord.
So
you [A] want to mute those strings as you go along, but it's really in that shape of A minor.
Okay, so that's what happens.
That's the force theme, which is really fun, and it's mostly
in your A minor chord.
Let's go over a little bit of the picking pattern that I'm doing
here.
[Am]
[D] [E]
Okay, that's what I'm doing.
So I'll put the tab [N] there on the screen for you.
I
know it's hard to see my hand as I do that, but [Am] something like that.
[D]
[E] I hit that E chord
one strum, [A] because it's only one beat.
One, two, [C] three.
[Em] And I think what I do is I hit
that chord with the G bass, because it only covers one [F] beat.
[E]
[Am] [A] And then I came up here in
the recording, I believe, [Am] and I went and I hit those three notes, 5-5-5, on the third,
fourth, and, excuse me, third, second, and first string, [C] and I had to mute that D string
so it wouldn't play.
But that A [A] string, and these three [Am] strings on five make an A minor
chord.
Don't play your D string, don't play your low E string.
Okay?
Make sure that they're
not playing, like that, and you get another A minor chord.
[E] Okay, that's it for [A] the force
theme.
[Em] Okay, we'll talk to you later.
[Am] [D] [E]
[Am] [F]
