notorious for always doing [A] new arrangements of old songs.
[D] And this is a song we're going to do from [B] 1982.
[E] But it was, [B] uh,
it's never been done live the way that it was [E] recorded
because basically I played everything [N] on it.
And, uh, you know, it's never really fitted exactly
any band that I've ever had.
So what we decided to do,
and, you know, we got [Dm] together in our mad scientist laboratory
to [N] figure this out, is to recreate the original recording of this.
This is the actual drum machine that was used.
You can see here that it's pretty much,
[A] this is the drum machine that we think was made in 1979 or [N] 1980.
And, uh, pass it over to Jack.
So this recording had no guitars on it.
It had no bass.
I mean, it had a synthesizer bass, which we programmed.
And, uh, the original recording was on it.
So we're going to take it and recreate it as well as we can.
And, uh, what we've been doing tonight
and what we try to do every night is, [D#] uh,
there's a song we're featuring from the new album called Alchemy.
[A#] And the idea of which is that art, any [N] kind of art,
it could be music, it could be a lot of other things,
it's a kind of alchemy where we're just taking old junk
and trying to make some kind of magic out of it.
You know, and we have the same notes, the same chords everyone else has.
And we're just trying to make some magic out of it.
So we hope you appreciate it.
That's it.
[D]
[N] [A]
[N] [C#m]
[C#] And now, uh,
[Bm] [C#]
[F#] the only thing on the record that I shouldn't play
is we had the drummer double just snare drum.
It's like a record.
And I'm going to add a layer of, uh,
like, kind of an organ.
[C#] [F#] [A] [B]
[D] [C#m] [F#]
[C#] [A] [C#]
Now [D] everyone.
[B] Yes.
[F#] Here we go.
Go!
[C#m] [B]
[C#] [F#]
[D] Now, there's [E] across the window [F#] I glance
[D] Nothing [E] but a pearl [C#m] of love's [D] [E] flashlight
[C#m] He led me to be [D] so high Glowing [F#] brighter
[C#]
[F#] [B] [C#]
[F#] We'd [D] be so tired of [E] all the darkness [F#] in our lives
[D] We're not [E] only we but [C#m] to save the [D] [E] unlife
[C#m] Against the dark [D] and bright
It'll be [F#] alright
[C#] I'll set me home
[C#m] In the [B] fields of night
[C#m] [A#m] You and me [C#] Setting high
[C#m] [B] In the fields of night
In [C#m] the fields of [F#m] night
We [D] were young but [E] getting old [F#] for a fight
[D] Leave [E] the city and [C#m] radio
[D] [E] behind
[C#m] Don't you wonder how [D] I will find
Standing [F#] out to be [C#] nice
[F#] [C#m] [B] [D]
[C#] [F#] You
[D] Dressing [E] fake and loose [F#] like a child
[D] Leave [E] your old [C#m] tracksuits, your boots, [D] and [E] smile
[C#m] Grab your [D] every glass of wine
And every [F#] bottle of wine
And [C#] set me high
[F#] [F#m] [B] Into the [C#] light
[C#m] Into the light
