Ted Nugent talks about touring with Golden Earring and their hit song Radar Love chords
Start Jamming...
Man, [A] you can't fly
on a cold wind
[G] And the road is rotten to near
Well, [F#] Golden Air Wing
reminded me of Motown.
That's what I really appreciate
about Golden Air Wing.
These guys had a rhythm
and blues appreciation
and an uninhibited, dynamic
rock and roll appreciation
for the original uppity,
kiss my ass rock and roll
fire-breathing elements.
And they had it
with a garage band fervor,
but with a disciplined R&B.
One of the greatest drummers
of all time, Caesar, right?
One of the greatest rhythm
and blues rock and roll
drummers of all time.
And the bass player
played a bass
just like I play bass,
and I love that almost Motowny
meets white guy bass playing.
And they had a rock-solid
rhythm section that caused
for the [N] girls to shake,
which I'll take
any way I can get it.
And I thought the band [A] was excellent.
I don't mind
You [D] need more money
Go out with friends
[D] and dance all [A] night
And give your body
when [D] it's gone and [A] wasted
When you're with me
[D] I want you to be on my side
[G] Stand [D] [A] by me
Stand by me
Stand by me
[G] [E] Stand by me
When the Ted Nugent show
came to town,
[F] I had ACDC open up for me,
I [G] had Cheap Trick open up for [E] me.
We would tour with Van Halen
and Aerosmith and ZZ Top.
I made sure that the package
was Sonic Bombast at its finest
and Golden Earring qualified.
[D] [Em]
[D] [Em] electric guitar plays
I [D] [E]
[D] [Em]
[D] [E]
[D] [C]
[D] think as soon as you hear those records,
you could tell those guys
had a rhythm section
that locked in,
that they [F#] obviously practiced their wares,
they were virtuosos,
that the guitar players
worked this incredible
intertwining co-rhythm, counter rhythm,
co-melody,
counter melody pattern,
and it was just a natural.
These guys were dedicated
to their craft,
so I don't think the audience
gave a rat's [F#m] ass
where they came from.
[D#] You can, you can.
It was just a great line, man.
And I remember the bass too,
because when I started
my band The Lourdes in 1959,
1960, we had a Dan Electro bass guitar.
See, you didn't know I remembered
all this stuff, did you?
I used to play a Dan Electro
guitar, bass guitar.
And I used to play it a lot
like Golden Earrings bass player,
with a pick and with
a muffled thumpin' sound.
And when I heard Radar Love,
I realized it had to be
a Dan Electro bass.
And I hope I'm right,
I hope it was
the Dan Electro bass.
[F#m] But I remember when
they played live,
he played a Dan Electro bass,
and I could hear that
immediately in Radar Love.
And I said, these guys
have got to be all right.
[E] All right.
They're from Holland,
they came all the way from Holland,
they're gonna play
[F#] some Rock and Roll for ya,
we got the Golden Earrings.
[B]
[E]
[A] [E]
[F#]
[F#m]
[F#]
Drivin',
[F#m] drivin', drivin', drivin',
drivin', [F#] drivin',
all night long.
Woo hoo,
woo hoo, yeah.
Da da da!
I've been drivin'
all night,
my hands went off [F#m] the wheel.
Listen for [F#] the voice in my head
And then [F#m] lies my gear.
Sparkling in colors, I need you here.
It's a half-assed corner, I'm shifting gear.
[E] When she is lonely, she'll [B] have a longing as much.
[E] She came up, [B] caught me here, from afar.
[C#] Don't need a fire.
[D]
We've got love.
[E] [F#] We've got love.
[D]
[A] We've got love [E] in this fire.
[C#] [F#m] We've got love.
[F#]
The radio is playing some [F#m] forgotten songs.
With me coming on strong.
Put it's got me hypnotized.
[E] And I'm [F#] spinning to a new song [F#m] right.
[E] When I get lonely, [B] I'm not sure I've had enough.
[E] She's in comfort, [B] caught me here, from afar.
[C#] Don't need a fire.
[D]
[A] We've got love.
[E] [F#] We've got [D] love.
We've [A] got love in this [E] fire.
We've got love.
She's a good man.
She's a good man.
