[Em] [A] We're going to [D] do a song from Miss Debbie and also [Bm] Mr.
Peters of Biscuits and [F#m] Gravy asked us to [Dm] do this.
[C] This is a [Em] little kid song that I wrote for my nephews and niece [C] back in the summer of 1968.
There was a lot of racial tension [D] in the country at [C] that time.
Dr.
Martin Luther King had been assassinated that spring, Robert Kennedy later on in the year.
I wanted to [G] write something that maybe my nephews and my [D] nieces could identify with, maybe teach a little lesson [C] as well.
Over the years [G] this has been the second most requested song that we [D] do when we go out to play.
[C] Here's the song.
There were a little brown dog and a little green frog waiting in the [G] barn each day.
And the little brown dog and the little green frog never had too [C] much to say.
But the little brown dog got the little green frog in a smoking [F] murderous chain.
And the little green [C] frog caught the [A] little brown [Dm] dog in a
[C] And then one day they set out to play and the dog said [G] it's too fast.
And all you can do the whole day through is sit on a little [C] bed.
And the little green frog told the little brown dog there really [F] ain't no next.
And barking around [C] running up [A] and down [G] like a good red lady.
[C] And then he seemed like he came to glean through the eyes of the [G] little dog.
So he thought for a while and then forced a smile and said come here [C] little frog.
He said now we'll just make a deal if that's alright [F] with you.
I'll show you how to bark [C] and run [G] around the park and you can teach me all the things [C] you do.
Leave mother!
[G] Doesn't make you sick to leave me sick like that.
[C]
[F] [C] [Dm] [G]
[C] So the little brown dog and the little green frog at the moment [G] made amends.
And they worked and they played and they sun and they shade and they wound [C] up full of them friends.
A broken dog and a barn new frog, girl what do you [F] think of that?
A dog that [C] tries for [A] dragonflies [G] and a frog that trees [C] a can.
Now the story goes from a guy who knows a fellow old [G] vow to
saying
up to him with a face so grim said man I'm [C] scared to death.
I just came from the park and I guess I'm stark way being [F] completely mad.
I was bit by a frog [Am] and I saw [A] a dog [G] said no [C] no leave me.
So the little brown dog and the little green frog forgot their [G] jealousy.
Happy days were earned when they finally learned what a joy [C] friendship can be.
And they laughed and sported and I guess in short you'd say they [F] had a fun.
How the little brown dog [C] and the little [A] green frog [D] were so [G] different after [C] all.
[N] Yeah!
Good!
Thank you.
