If [A] I die tomorrow, the sun will burn [F#m] forever.
You hear it?
An open letter to the world that never [F#m] shall reply.

[A]
If I die tomorrow, where the sun [F#m] will burn forever, and [A] he replies.
An open letter to burn, but never [F#m] shall reply, but [A] never shall reply.
From [F#m] this second story window, [A] I can hear that church bells calling out my name.
[C#m] This table [F#m] is set for one, [B] even angels would be homesick [A] in this forsaken town.
On random notes of parchment, I'm scrawling [F#m] my existence, [A] dressed in white.
This candle radiates [C#m] the love that I need, and it's never [F#m] burning out, never [A] burning out.
[F#m] From this second story window, [A] I can hear the children down on the street.
They're [F#m] singing their song tonight, [F#] in the shadows I will listen [D] to their every cry.
[F#m]
Mr.
[A] Higgins, sir, am I not [G#]
good enough for the [A] world?
[F#m] Am I destined only [A] to die the same way [C#m] that I [D] lived?
It's occlusion [F#] from high up on this mountain, I [A] can almost see your lonely windowsill.
[C#m] They'll carry [F#m] you out tonight.
There's a ghost in your old bedroom, and [A] a candle burning bright.
If I die tomorrow, will the sun live on forever?
Thanks, that was for Derek.
[D]
[G] Alright, so, yeah.
So this song, Unopened Letter to the World, I wrote [A#] based on the life and death of the poet Emily [F#] Dickinson,
but I was just kind of comparing it to how some artists today don't really get known or [D#] noticed until after they die,
be it like Kurt [N] Cobain or Elliot Smith or, you know, authors or poets or whatever.
So that song, I was kind of applying
