[G] Alternative rock band Foo Fighters formed [B] in Seattle, Washington in _ 1994.
[D] The group started off as a one-man project for Dave [C] Grohl, following the dissolution of his former band, Nirvana.

[G] Though Grohl had [Bb] written and recorded [G] almost [Bb] all of the [Gm] songs on the Foo Fighters debut, he formed a full band to support the [G] material on [Eb] tour.
This [Am] band [Eb] consisted of Grohl on lead [F] vocals and rhythm guitar, Nate [G] Mendel on bass, William Goldsmith [D] on drums, and [Eb] Pat Smear on second guitar.
[D] The band's [B] sophomore effort was _ [Gb] 1997's The Color [E] and The Shape.
It featured [D] a similar alternative [E] rock sound to their first album and became a top ten record on the Billboard [D] 200.

Shortly before the release of this record, Taylor [Dbm]
Hawkins [E] replaced drummer William Goldsmith.
_ Guitarist Franz Stahl then joined the band for some tour dates after Pat [Am] Smear's departure.
[Eb] Though he was only [A] with the Foo Fighters for a few months, he recorded two songs with them.
One [Dbm] of these was the [E] re-recording of Walking After You for the soundtrack to the 1998 [Gb] movie The X-Files. _
