If you would sing something a cappella, what would you sing?
I know.
I will serve thee.
Sing, I would love to have you sing I will serve thee.
I've been doing a song recently from my solo album that says well done.
And I think that's probably the sweetest words we'd ever hear the Lord say,
is that you fought a good fight and you kept the faith.
And I hope that he says well done, my good and faithful servant.
And we've been singing about serving him, closing out our concerts a lot with this song that you wrote and recorded.
And it kind of sums up everything that we have said through the night.
I will [B] serve thee.
Sing it, Mike.
[E] Because I [B] love thee.
You [Gb] have given
[Bb] life to [B]
me.
[A] [Abm] I was nothing [E] before you [B] found me.
You have [Gb]
given [Ebm] life to [E]
heartaches and broken [B]
pieces.
[Gb]
Ruined lives are why [Bbm] you
[B] died [Db]
[Ab] on [Dbm] [Abm] Calvary.
[E] And your touch was what [B] I longed for.
And you [Gb] have given [F]
life to [E] me.
[Db] [B]
[G] And I want to say a special thanks.
As she was [Dm] talking [C]
about a while ago, just reiterate the point of in our down times,
[F] times where the bus would break down and take every dime you had and all those.
My dad always had [C]
that tenacity that pushed and kept us going.
And [F] when [C] we were going through singers and the group was changing and you just wonder what's going to be the outcome,
[F] he just always had that vision.
He saw the vision on the other side.
Herb Henry introduced us [Em] in Modesto.
And [C] he said, I introduced this group 20 years ago on this same stage.
And now 20 years later, I'm introducing them tonight.
And they still have the same members as they had 20 years [G] ago.
And I just said, thank you, Lord.
[D] [Abm] Jake was always a big [C] encourager to me [F] because he'd come over, you know,
everybody would sit up on stage and he'd always sit facing me.
And I'd be playing the drums [C] and he just always thumbs up and just a real encouragement to me.
And it's just a lot of magic moments there.
At a concert a couple months ago, Mark Lowry, [F] he actually [G] sang the [C] Make It Real song.
And I've never had anything actually get to me and make me feel that [F] way.
And it was really cool.
And I knew that I grew up with him, you know, being on the tour.
And [Em] [F] [C]
I understood it.
And you know how hard it is to make a child understand something.
And that's exactly what it says is make it real.
Vestal was always just my hero.
[F] And [G] the last [C]
couple weekends [F] before she passed away, we were doing the [C] Christmas tour with you.
And she was singing What a Lovely Name.
And on more than one occasion, she would look up at me when she just got [N] tired.
And she'd sit down and she'd say, now you sing it, [Fm] darling.
[Eb] And then I remember [Bb] that you [F] allowed me to sing that at her funeral, What a Lovely Name, in her honor.
And we did that on your stage a whole lot after that in her [Fm] memory and in her honor.
I'll never forget those sweet little hands that [Eb] she would put on [Ab] my face [Db] and say, now you sing it, [Ab] darling.
And [Bbm] I've tried to do so ever [F] since.
