Christopher Slim here, just gonna be a string of lessons, I'm gonna try to put out lessons,
more or less my tricks and stuff and how to do things, well how I do things [Bb] in my playing
and stuff like that, [Ab] just tricks and tips and whatever and what [Bb] not.
This is a trick that I've been doing for a few years now that I've just kind of figured
it on my own but once I heard a guy named Magic Slim play, I heard him do it, I didn't
see him do it but I heard him do it and I can just tell the sound of the, [Ab] just the sound
of it is so distinctive like it can't be [Bb] mistaken.
But it's just, instead of bending the string, he basically brings the pick up to the fretboard
and bends the string through the pick over and over again.
Whatever string you want to do it with, you can do it with, it doesn't really matter but
it really sounds cool and it really builds intensity especially when you're on the four
chord but I'm gonna get a little closer look in here for you so you can see a little bit better.
[B] Okay, now we got a nice closer view so today we're gonna do the example in B because it's
just easier for me to get a close up on the camera, with the camera on my fretboard so
yeah example [D] in B.
[B]
[Em] Okay, so basically he's taking the pick and he's just basically sticking it, just the
tip of it around the fretboard like that.
Wherever it, you can change the pitch and sound, like the sound if you do it here as
opposed to here but you just have to experiment with that yourself because I've gotten different
tones out of each guitar I've done this on so it [Ab] all depends on what guitar you're playing
but yeah he [Em] basically instead of, [G]
[Bm] [D] he will bend the string through the pick instead.
[B]
[Bm]
[E] Okay, so straight pick on the fretboard and just bend your string through the pick and
don't move the pick just keep it stationary where it is.
[Dm] [Gb] [B]
[D] [Bm]
[N]
[D]
[A]
[D]
[B] [Bm] [B]
[Bm]
[N] Okay, so basically just like that.
I'll play over a little jam track here for a minute just to give you an example of what
it sounds like.
So here we go.
[B]
Okay, so we're in [A] B.
[D] [Em]
[Bm] [B]
