little blues today, [G] although this is kind of the more folk country way
that Tobacco Road was originally done by the writer, John D.
Loudermilk.
Now, this is by [Gbm] far his most famous song, and in my eyes,
[Abm] his second most famous song was of course this, [Am]
[A]
[N] Windy and Warm.
But he wrote hundreds of songs.
Prolific songwriter from the early 60s, mostly known in the country
and kind of blues folk world.
We are going to look at the simple original version that only used two chords.
Now most of you, Lou Rawls by the way, had a great version too.
Long story about where, about his childhood.
And most of those guys have modified it to become a 12-bar blues format
once it gets into the chorus.
We're going to play it with two chords in the key of C, the way John did it himself.
Now John was not a fabulous guitar player, but he was smooth.
So we're just going to take a look at the opening [Gb] lick.
[F] [Cm]
[Bbm] That's it.
And then just got a couple of bar [C] chords.
And got to hit them on the fourth beat.
