[N]
[G]
This next song is from my [Eb] most recent [C] album.
It was out [B] end of last year
[Bb] And it was an interesting [B] for me album
[Db] because it was a collection of songs that I've [C] had in movies [D] and TV shows over [Eb] the years [C] and
[B]
I took 12 songs that [Eb] I've been in something, you [C] know, even it might have been as the world turns
but [B] some [A] you know, some of the [C] movies were pretty big twins [B] and runaway bride were the big ones [Bb] and
some [Eb] popular TV shows
[C] Miami Vice [Bb] Touched by an Angel
Dawson's Creek, you know
But this [C] was over a period of time [Eb] and I [Bb] thought it'd be fun to do an album
Collecting some of those songs that I [B] like because otherwise a lot of my fans are not gonna hear them
You know, they may [Bb] not be exactly what I do most of the time
But I also put three bonus tracks on the album that are songs
I wrote for [C] movies, but didn't make it in and this next song is one of those
I wrote it for the movie Stewart little [Bb] to I wrote it with
guy, I write with a lot named Jeff Franzel and
That album was also an opportunity for me to stick a couple of [Ab] those songs on you know that for [D] whatever reason actually the reason
That didn't get in Stewart little to as they told us [A] they loved the song, but they thought it was a little too [Bb] grown-up
which was interesting because they had told us don't write a children's song because
[Bm] we want to write songs that work with the movie because
[A] The mommas and the daddies by the [Bb] records
[B] Anyway, this is called silver lining and what I'm gonna
[Eb] Just play this for Jeff to [C] his father had a stroke a couple of [Bb] days ago and he's
[Bm] They were all at the hospital with [A] him right now in Connecticut
[Gm] [Bb]
[C]
[Eb]
[F]
[Bb]
You don't have to say a word.
[F]
I can see how much that hurt
[Eb] Listen now for what it's worth
[F] Help is on the way
[Bb] Sometimes when you're in despair
[F] You [Dm] forget somebody [F] cares
[Eb] You miss the love.
It's always there
[D] When you feel that way
[Gm] So if you're down and out
[Dm] [F] Think no one can [Dm] save you [Eb] now
Maybe let there be no doubt.
[F] It's gonna be all right the world keeps [Bb] turning
Even when [F] the Sun is hiding
[Gm] Somewhere [Eb] in the world.
It's shining
[Dm] Even when [F] it seems so far [Gm] away
Hey
[C]
[Eb] Baby [F] there's a silver lining [Bb] to everything
[F]
[D] And sometimes when you need some help
[F] You can blame it on yourself
[Eb] Do you feel like there's nothing?
[Bb] [D] And nothing's gonna change
[Gm] So if you're feeling blue
[Dm] Like this time you won't pull through
[Eb] Maybe that's not half the truth.
It's gonna [F] be all right.
So don't you [Bb] worry?
Even when [F] the Sun is hiding
[Gm] Somewhere in [Eb] the world.
It's [Bb] shining
Even when [F] it seems so far [Gm] away Hey
[C]
[Eb] Baby, [F] there's a silver [Bb] lining to everything
[Ab] To learn the fly you risk [Eb] it all
And baby how it hurts to fall
[Ebm] You wanna run, but there's [F] another way
[Bb] [F] Even when the Sun is hiding
[Gm] [Eb] Somewhere in the world it's shining
[Bb] Even [F] when it seems so far [Gm] away.
[F]
[Bb] I know you're [F] feeling broken-hearted
[Gm] But soon you'll [Eb] see it's where we started
[Dm] Looking [F] for the love that saved the day
[Gm] [C]
[Eb] Baby [F] there's a silver lining [Bb] to everything
[C] [F]
[Eb] Thank [F]
[Bb]
You Tom Wow, you know
There are a lot [F] of people struggling right now and I think that song is something that so [E] many people can relate to
Well, [F] thank you, thank you it [D] spoke to us we were [Eb] we were disappointed it didn't get in the film
[Db] But you know, we [G] got the song
We [Bb] probably wouldn't have written it.
[B] Otherwise, so, you know, [A] it was a gift in that [E] way.
Wow
So amazing.
[B] What does it feel like [Gb] now to hear?
these amazing performers performing [F] your songs and
To [G] hear your music in [F] films that touch so many people's lives [E] now as opposed [F] to
Ten years ago.
Is there a difference or do you still get a little thrill when it [Am] happens?
I would be thrilling.
[Db] I do get a thrill, of course, but I think I think one thing that's [Bb] different now is I've
was a staff writer with
[A] one publisher or other in Nashville or LA for
25 years.
I made my own records and I performed and everything
It wasn't like I was I was just writing for the [Bb] market or something like that
But [Eb] but [E] still it was a different [B] having a relationship [Bb] with a publisher
There's certain [A] expectations and a [Bb] publisher was advancing me money, you know sort of giving you
[A] Royalty money in advance, you know, and that's typical in that kind of relationship.
It's good in a way
It lets [C] a writer focus on writing and know that the the bills are going to be [D] paid
But on the other hand that they have an opinion and there's a kind of [Bb] awareness in writing.
Is this [A] something that's accessible?
Is this something they're gonna like is it something they're gonna be able [B] to to successfully
You know [A] market to other artists or artists who are well-known [D] and I've been an independent
[B] artist and writer for the last seven years and and now it's it's really [Bb] changed the energy of
[B] Of the way I'm writing and and [E] I think [Db] when I hear
[C] songs that other people have [A] done of mine
I feel really honored [E] that they care enough to put one of my songs [B] [C] on their records or if I hear something on a
On a movie or [B] TV show
I feel really blessed that a lot of people are hearing that song that they they probably wouldn't have heard [Bb] from one of my records
I mean, I have my fans, you know
I've got my cult following but it's really small compared to what what [B] somebody hears, [A] you know in a TV show or a movie
So [C] I'm just thankful for every every time that somebody here.
