Start Jamming...
[Fm] I was on the radio when I was 7 years [B] old.
And it [D] forever changed my life as a musician.
[F#] And [N] I think a lot of people had a similar experience.
[G#m] And, because we [Cm] could hear that he was doing everything at once.
[Bm]
And I thought I might spend a moment and show you how that [A] works,
so you can all go home and try it yourself.
[E] Yeah.
[B] [E]
So, basically, [A] the song, [D#m] does what the left [A] hand on the piano does.
So, [G] [C]
[F] [Em]
[Bm] [Am]
[D] [G] [A]
that kind of, and then the fingers play a bit of the [C] music.
[F] [C]
[D] [Dm] [C]
Here you [F] are.
[C]
[Am] So you get that.
I'm so fortunate.
[D]
You know, see.
[D#m] [C#] [D]
Whatever.
And, you [A] know, when I heard Ted play,
I knew immediately that I had to try and work it out.
[G#] [N] And it drove me crazy, you know.
And I knew that's what I wanted to do.
[A] And it's kind of hard to explain that to people, you know.
How can you be a kid and know what you want to do later in life?
[F#] It's impossible.
[A] When you have no choice, that's just the way it [G] is.
And I always knew it.
[N] And, you know, when I got to know Ted,
he told me the same thing about himself.
He said, he tuned [F#] in the radio and heard Merle [F#m] Travis on the radio,
[F#] and it completely [Am] changed his life.
And he said, that's what I've got to do.
We both had exactly the same experience.
[D]
The only difference [N] is, Ted got famous as Rich,
and I'm still playing in Phoenix, Philadelphia.
Thank [A]
[E] [D] you.
[A] Anyway, [N] having said that,
this song is like playing on the piano,
I'd like to play a piano piece for you if I may.
And this is one of my favorite Scott Joplin pieces,
called The End of the Line.
