It is a joy to be here on the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The hallowed ground and the, and the, there's so much history here and I feel so good being in this building
because it's totally here for one reason, to honour music and the people who brought us so much great music.
This guitar that I'm holding is a very important guitar in the history of not only electric guitar
but in rock and roll music.
And this is, this guitar is currently owned by my friend Tom Doyle
who I met many years ago who worked with Les Paul and with Chet.
And Tom owns, currently owns this guitar.
We, we feel that it should be living here for the whole world to come and see.
But this is the guitar, the F holes, there are no holes in this guitar and there's no bracing.
It's a, it's a carved top, the same materials that Gretch used to use to make their snare drums.
It's the same, same material.
And Chet had some issues with feedback and stuff like that
and he was always trying to get a guitar that wouldn't feedback and this is the one that Gretch [F] gave to him.
[C] So it has that real vintage sound, you know, which is one of the tones that I love.
And I was just saying to Tom before that, you know, this guitar has that tone
and it was that tone that drove us wild when we were kids, didn't it?
That was the sound that attracted us to that kind of music.
