[D] Heavy Peterson, [G] Michael Steele, The Bangles, or as David [D] Letterman refers to them, four fabulous [G] babes.
The girls got to number two on [D] the charts with Manic Monday, [G] a song that showed their
strong 60s influences.
[D]
[Bm] We had a dream.
We had an [D] awesome dream.
We had an awesome dream.
[G] This was the year when everything went [N] completely crazy [Em] as far as The Bangles are [A] concerned.
Just another Manic [D] Monday.
[G] Oh, yeah, you're a she-wolf.
[D]
[G] There are certain moments when [Bm] we sit back and we go, this is [G] great.
For instance, [D] when we were presented with our gold [C#m] records in Los Angeles.
I mean, I [G] have to say that was an evening where I could step back a little bit and say,
oh my God, look what [B] we have.
[D#] Walk Like an [B] Egyptian was shot in New York, and it's basically the people of New York
walking like Egyptians.
We were [G] originally going to shoot it in Cairo.
It could have been Egyptians walking like New [E] Yorkers.
With a year like they've [Bm] had, is [Em] success anything like they'd imagined it?
We thought it was going to be hard [G] day's night.
Then we thought it was going to be help.
Yeah, and then we thought it was [N] going to be spinal tap.
Which it is, but what it really is is spinal tap.
And that's what's frightening.
It really is [A] spinal tap.
[E] Yeah, it is.
Oh, man.

[E] These kinds of questions, we get very tired.
This one girl just yesterday was [B] asking us, do you [A] see yourself as a woman
or do [E] you see yourself as a [B] musician?
[A] You wake up in the morning, what do [E] you think?
I don't [B] know.
[A] I wasn't born and laying there in the crib going, I'm a musician.
[E]
I know, I said I knew myself as a woman first, I suppose, as a person.
Yeah, just a being.

Wicky and Michael.
You have to remember, you all look good, I'm not happy.
The [F#] concert is over, I'd like to ask how you feel, how was the concert?
How do you feel?
I'm having a great time, the weather is beautiful, the audience is very receptive.
It's a great time.
[B] I know.
[F#] [E] Wow, and the [A] musicians, [B] [F#] who are not from Europe?
[E]
[A] [B] [F#] [E]
[A] [B] [F#] [E]
[A] [B] [C#]
Well, we think they're all [G#] Middle Eastern bands.
We're here, I mean, we're girls.
We're girls, we're here [F#] and she says, a [B] boy, a man,
we're all strong and [C#] we're doing it.
[G#]
So you're not [B] [F#] afraid?
We're not afraid.
[E] You're not afraid?
[A] [B] [F#] Well, [E] we have a sort of [A] faith in the music.
[E] This is a [F#] totalitarian idea, I hope most New [E] Yorkers will be [A] very [B] dangerous,
than [F#] in Germany.
[E] [A] [B] Playing drums or [C#] something, I mean, I don't understand, it's not [G#] inherently a
I think maybe what [C] it is about it [B] that's weird is that maybe [C#] playing the guitar [G#] yourself,
playing the drums yourself, whatever, is almost symbolic of taking control [F#]
of your career
and your life and maybe that's [E] what's weird to people.
[Em] I don't know.
Show their [F#] pads that were in any clothes.
[E] Can we just remove [A] the first [Bm] video, just, [F#] you've never seen it, you will [E] never [A] see it again.
[Bm] I'm [A] telling you, that was the first time we were
[E] I can actually appreciate how silly it is.
[D] I'll strike it, I strike it for the record.
I'm telling [B] you, it was the first time we were set up with a stylist
[A] and the last time that it happened in [E] that way,
where we were actually put into clothes that we had never in a million years ever worn.
We're all really [D] nice people, but we weren't quite sure [B] about
We felt like clowns.
[Dm]
[Am] [G] [F#] I wasn't sure how much music I wanted to do because the Bangles was not my first [F#m] band.
The Bangles was like my [F#] 19th or 20th band.
And [D] I'd been knocking around Los Angeles for a long [F#] time
and I needed to get out of Los Angeles.
I needed to go somewhere [G#] a bit quieter and more of [A] a [B] [F#] situation, just [G#] kind of chill out.
[A] [B] Excellent.
Michael, you're not to be [A] left out.
[B] Well, you [F#] haven't had six babies, [G#m] have you?
[A] No, no, I [C#] [F#] collected a bunch of animals.
Oh, [C#m] did you?
Yes, I did.
The fur family.
You're not going to start writing books like our previous guest are you? That's [B] possible.
[F#] Maybe.
[C#m] And did all yours [A] have names [Bm] and things?
[F#] Oh, yes.
Oh, [B] yes.
[E] [F#m]
I [Bm] did [F#] a sort of a solo [G#] musical thing for a while.
[F#] Then I basically hit a wall with the music thing.
I had to [F#m] kind of stop doing music for a while
because [B] my relationship with music was seriously [F#] impaired.
[F#m] I think actually it does seem to happen [B] with the majority of people, doesn't it?
If they become the point [F#] and you just think, I [E] can't go on [F#m] bashing this out really.
And the new album is coming [C#m] out which is called [F#] Doll Revolution.
It's going to be released on [E] Monday here in [A] Germany.
[B] What can the fans expect or what are you expecting?
Well, we don't have any expectations about [N] it.
We're just very proud of the CD.
It's very much of our project.
We funded it ourselves.
We put it together ourselves.
We produced it ourselves with Brad Wood.
We're just excited that it's had an opportunity to get out to the world.
We're looking forward to see what happens on Monday.
We're absolutely thrilled at what's happened already.
So, you know, the rest is just, I don't know, icing on the cake.
Many things have changed in all of our lives.
But if you liked the Bangles before, you'll like the Bangles now.
And if you didn't like the Bangles before, you'll like the Bangles now.
Oh, wow, okay.
Going on tourney again, on world tourney.
You're going to be five days already, five times in Germany and all that.
Are you excited?
What's going to happen after, you know?
Well, you never know.
You know, we play live so you never know what's going to happen.
It's even surprised us sometimes what happens.
But we're looking forward to it.

_ _ [F#] _ [E] Wow, and the [A] musicians, [B] [F#] who are not from Europe?
[E] _
_ [A] _ [B] _ _ _ [F#] _ _ [E] _
_ [A] _ [B] _ _ [F#] _ _ _ [E] _
_ [A] _ [B] _ _ _ [C#] _ _ _
_ _ Well, we think they're all [G#] Middle Eastern bands.
We're here, I mean, we're girls.
We're girls, we're here [F#] and she says, a [B] boy, a man,
we're all strong and [C#] we're doing it.
[G#] _ _ _ _
So you're not _ [B] _ [F#] afraid?
We're not afraid.
[E] You're not afraid?
[A] _ _ [B] [F#] Well, _ [E] we have a sort of [A] faith in the music.
[E] This is a [F#] totalitarian idea, I hope most New [E] Yorkers will be [A] very [B] dangerous,
than [F#] in Germany.
_ [E] _ _ [A] [B] Playing drums or [C#] something, I mean, I don't understand, it's not [G#] inherently _ a_
I think maybe what [C] it is about it [B] that's weird is that maybe [C#] playing the guitar [G#] yourself,
playing the drums yourself, whatever, is almost symbolic of taking control [F#]
of your career
and your life and maybe that's [E] what's weird to people.
[Em] I don't know.
_ _ _ _ Show their [F#] pads that were in any clothes.
[E] Can we just remove [A] the first [Bm] video, just, [F#] you've never seen it, you will [E] never [A] see it again.
[Bm] I'm [A] telling you, that was the first time we were_ _
_ _ [E] I can actually appreciate how silly it is.
[D] _ _ I'll strike it, I strike it for the record.
I'm telling [B] you, it was the first time we were set up with a stylist
_ [A] and the last time that it happened in [E] that way,
where we were actually put into clothes that we had never in a million years ever worn.
We're all really [D] nice people, but we weren't quite sure [B] about_
We felt like clowns.
[Dm] _ _ _
[Am] _ [G] _ [F#] I wasn't sure how much music I wanted to do because the Bangles was not my first [F#m] band.
The Bangles was like my [F#] 19th or 20th band.
_ And [D] I'd been knocking around Los Angeles for a long [F#] time
and I needed to get out of Los Angeles.
I needed to go somewhere [G#] a bit quieter and more of [A] a [B] _ [F#] _ situation, just [G#] kind of chill out.
[A] _ [B] _ Excellent.
[E] _ [F#m]
I [Bm] did [F#] a sort of a solo [G#] musical thing for a while.
[F#] Then I basically hit a wall with the music thing.
I had to [F#m] kind of stop doing music for a while
because _ [B] my relationship with music was seriously [F#] impaired.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ Well, we don't have any expectations about [N] it.
We're just very proud of the CD.
_ _ It's very much of our project.
We funded it ourselves.
We put it together ourselves.
We produced it ourselves with Brad Wood. _ _
We're just excited that it's had an opportunity to get out to the world.
_ We're looking forward to see what happens on Monday.
We're absolutely thrilled at what's happened already.
So, you know, the rest is just, I don't know, icing _ on the cake.
_ _ Many things have changed in all of our lives.
But if you liked the Bangles before, you'll like the Bangles now.
And if you didn't like the Bangles before, you'll like the Bangles now.
Oh, wow, okay. _
_ _ _ Going on tourney again, on world tourney.
You're going to be five days already, five times in Germany and all that.
Are you excited?
What's going to happen after, you know?
Well, you never know.
You know, we play live so you never know what's going to happen.
It's even surprised us sometimes what happens. _ _ _
But we're looking forward to it.
We're very excited. _ _ _
