_ _ _ In 1886, an evangelist named Dwight L.
Moody had a meeting in Brockton, Massachusetts,
where a young man stood up to speak on the confidence of his salvation.
And he was a little reluctant.
He said, I'm not really quite sure,
but I do know that I'm going to trust and I know that I'm going to obey.
_ There was a man named Daniel Towner that was a singer for Dwight Moody during the day,
and he wrote that phrase down and sent it to his good friend, John Sammis.
And in 1887, this song was born.
This is called Trust and Obey.
It is a beautiful song.
It is a hard thing to do. _
For me, those times when I'm just _ wondering why I can't get to sleep for all the stuff spinning in my head,
when I know deep in my heart that God has got me so covered,
it's just difficult to really, really embrace it.
And _ singing an old song like this to yourself can help.
It has helped me.
