[G] [F] [D] [C]
So this blues [D#] lick has two parts to it.
The first part, [E] [C]
[Am] [G] [A] [C] [Am]
[G] not much new there.
[G#m] We talked about using [Gm] thirds in blues and rock licks in one of our lessons.
[Am] [Gm]
So in this case we're just approaching the third [C#] from [D#] two half steps.
[C#m]
And we're doing descending thirds.
[C] [Am]
[Gm] [A] [C] [Am] [G]
[A] [C] [Am] [G]
[Am] [C] [G] You can come out of that lick [A] and do a [C] few [E] any way you want [G] or you can just [A] add an extra [E] one here.
[Am] [Gm]
[G] And then the four chord or the F.
[D] [F] [Dm] [Cm] [D]
[F] [Dm] [D] [C]
[Am] [G] [Am] [C] So [D#] I'll do it one more time.
[C] [Am]
[G] [A] [C] [Am] [Gm]
[A] [C] [Am] [Gm] [A]
[C] [Am] [Gm] [A] [F]
[Dm] [Cm] [D] [F] [Dm] [D]
[C] [Am] [Gm]
So there's different variations but that's the basic lick [G#] we're doing.
Those descending thirds.
[N] Rocking back and forth like that.
The second part is a little bit more difficult.
We're [G] doing
[F#] [Dm] [Fm]
[C] [D] [G#] [C]
[F] [G] [B] [Dm]
[E] [F] [F#m] [D]
[C] [E] The best way of thinking of that [G] is first of all we're doing descending sixths.
[Dm] [E] [D]
[C] So [G] we're going from the five chord to the one chord.
If you want you can play the left hand, five chord which is [F] G.
Then the four chord which is F.
[C] Or you could just stay [G] two bars on the five chord.
That's up to you.
I'm going to play it slowly.
So [A#] I think we're doing the sixth.
[G] And [A#] what I think may help you is the first [D] sixth that we do we're going up.
[Em] After that we're falling down.
[Dm] [G] Or going backwards.
[Dm] [D] [C] [D] [F]
[C] [A#] [G]
[B] [Dm] [E] [F] [F#m]
[D] [C] [E] [G]
[Am] [C] [E] [G] [A]
[G] [Dm] [E] [F]
[F#m] [Dm] [C] [E]
[G] [Am] [C] [E]
[G] [A] [G] [B] [Dm]
[E] [F] [F#m] [D]
[C] [G] [Am] [C]
[E] [G] [A] [G]
[B] [Dm] [E] [F]
[F#m] [D] [Dm] [C]
[G] [Am] [C] [E] [G]
[A] [G] [B] [Dm]
[E] [F] [F#m] [D] [Dm]
[C] [E] [G] [Am]
[C] [E] [G]
[A] [G] [B] [Dm] [E]
[F] [F#m] [D] [Dm]
