Welcome to Cunningham Piano.
I'm Hugh Sung.
What if you could get the sound and the feel of a grand piano in the size of an upright?
This is the Yamaha Avantgrand N1, the entry level to the Avantgrand series.
And it features the acoustic action of a grand piano and the digital sounds of Yamaha's premier CF3S acoustic piano.
So what do I mean by an acoustic action?
Let's take a moment.
I'm going to actually take this fallboard out so that you can take a look at what a grand piano action looks like in one of these Avantgrand N1 hybrid pianos.
So I've taken off the fallboard, the keyboard cover, so that we can see the actual action of this Avantgrand hybrid piano.
So this is not a gimmick.
This is an actual acoustic piano action.
If you look at this, this is the same exact action that you're going to find in [C] any Yamaha acoustic grand piano with the horizontal hammers, real wooden hammers, [Bb] real action.
You can see the hammers actually moving up and all the adjustments that you would make.
It's right there.
[B] Really remarkable.
That's what gives the Avantgrand the remarkable touch because it is actually the same action, the same touch that you would find in an acoustic grand piano.
So you can see with that authentic action, you get a real grand piano acoustic feel.
Now, how does this sound?
Let's play a little bit of this and see what this wonderful hybrid piano sounds like.

You know, whenever I'm testing out a digital instrument, I always try to choose soft, delicate repertoire like the 4A Nocturne I just played.
It's easy to play things that are loud and most digital instruments will sound pretty good.
It's when you try to play softly and try to find subtle levels of color and touch that you really expose the weaknesses of a digital instrument.
And this Avantgrand N1 really comes through.
I think you can hear it.
It comes through with flying colors.
I can really shape the sound not only with my fingers but also with the pedaling.
I can do subtle pedal controls just like I would do on an acoustic grand piano.
So I love the acoustic touch, the weighty feel of a grand piano, the weighty sound of a grand piano in this small form factor.
It's truly quite amazing.
Of course, being a fully digital instrument as well means that I can record my tracks and play them back.
I can save my recordings [Abm] onto thumb drives and save them as MIDI files to other people and other programs.
I have a metronome on board and there are several sounds that I can play with as well.
But as an acoustic piano replacement, it really functions marvelously in a very nice compact form factor.
So if you have limited space but you don't want to sacrifice the feel and sound of a grand piano,
you should really take a serious look at Yamaha's Avantgrand N1, the entry-level instrument to their incredible Avantgrand series.
Anyway, thanks so much for watching.
