Guys, what a great song.
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
I love these songs that feel like they came out of a real,
maybe a spontaneous moment.
The way that chorus sings and everything,
I could just see you going into that in a worship time.
And [Ab] I know you guys wrote this with some friends,
but I'd love to hear the story.
And I think the song started in one place
and kind of moved to another.
[B] Talk about that.
Yeah, it really has developed over time.
And this song actually has become a very personal song to me.
It is about the nearness of God to us
and that he's like that first line in the song,
like you're not a distant God, you're not just a legend,
but you're with me and you're with me through every season.
In that bridge we go into, you know,
even in the hardest times of life,
even in those valley moments, he's with us and he's good
and he's faithful to us.
And so that's really what this song is about.
And we just really wanted to paint a picture
of what that looked [N] like, I guess.
And that seems to be, on this record,
seems to be a theme of like God with us in the great times
and even in the lower times.
And why do you think that theme emerged so much
with this group of songs?
[Ab] I think as a community within Jesus Closure,
a lot of our friends and family,
we've seen within our personal family,
our personal [G] like immediate family,
and then outside of that, just, you know,
a lot of ups and downs over the last couple of years.
And really what has stood out to us is we've seen
that constant faithfulness of God through all those moments.
And so our songs on this record are filled
with those type of lyrics and those type of declarations.
Wow, it seems to be a real timely song too,
especially everything that's going on in the [F] world
and in our nation.
It's like a song kind of for this [N] moment.
Yeah, I hope so.
Well, Brian, kind of walk us through
what you're playing chord-wise.
Yeah, it's pretty simple.
The verses and the choruses, [B] we're in the key of D.
I just have a capo too, so I'm playing in the C shape.
And I'm just playing [Bm] the [D] six, kind of push the [D] tempo
to the four and then to the one.
So it's the [Bm] [D] B minor, G to the D.
Through the whole verse and then the chorus
and then the bridge, it opens up to the four,
so that G, even in my darkest, holds it.
[Bm] The six, B minor, when the fire [A] is,
to the A, to the five, all around.
[D] Just keeps going [A] and then holds that out.
Back to [Bm] the, let go, never [D] let go, [D] never let go.
[N] Simple.
Yeah, and I like the voicing there in the C shape.
It's really nice.
Guys, thanks so much for coming by and sharing it with us.
Guys, thanks so much for helping us out today.
We appreciate it.
Never [G] let go, never let go, never [D] let go.
