[F#]
Brian and Katie great to be with you all.
Great to be here.
Now I love this song Holy Spirit.
This song has been such an encouragement to the church.
It's a huge song.
Of course it's been covered by Carrie Jobe did it on her last record.
Talk about this song a little bit and just the writing of it.
Kind of where you guys were at and what kind of place you guys were in when you wrote this.
I think this is a for us is a special song but it's one of those things I wanted to write
a song about the Holy Spirit for a long time.
I had an old classic song about the Holy Spirit stuck in my head for honestly two years and
it was just in there.
It was one of those like I don't know how old the song is but the old Benny Hinn crusade type song.
And it was I would sing it every day and one day I just was like I feel like we want to
write that song for this generation.
So we kind of just went into our room and just it came out the chorus is Holy Spirit
you're welcome here.
And it went from there and kind of over the next few weeks we kind of went back and forth
in the car all of a sudden coming up with bridge melodies and all that kind of stuff.
But it really is a prayer.
It's our prayer that we want more of Holy Spirit in our life.
And it's something that it's our deep desire and it's something that we can sing on a regular
basis and still honestly mean.
Yeah for us too.
Obviously the Holy Spirit is always with us and so that's some of the questions we get
asked around the song.
But even like we wrote the bridge let us become more aware of your presence.
So that's kind of like like you said it's our prayer inviting the Holy Spirit into different
atmospheres that we're in and then just also praying that the Holy Spirit would increase
our awareness to the fact that he's already there and how he's already in our midst and
in our presence.
But yeah.
Yeah.
And I think it's that that bridge that lyric in the bridge that makes that song so accessible
because you know obviously there's parts of the church that are you know they're afraid
of that or you know for whatever reason.
And but I think the way you guys crafted that lyric makes it accessible to any church that
wants to sing it.
And so it's really it's really serving not just the Spirit Filled Church but also you
know just you know Baptist churches you know mainline churches everywhere which is just fantastic.
It's [B] a great song of unity for all of us to sing.
You guys play for us.
[F] We'd love to hear it.
Sure.
[A] Sure.
[A]
There's nothing worth more that will ever come close.
No thing can compare.
You are our living hope.
Your presence Lord.
I've tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves.
Will my heart become free?
Yet my shame is undone.
Your presence Lord.
Holy Spirit, you are welcome here.
[D] Come flood this place and fill [Bm] the atmosphere.
[A] Your glory God is what our hearts long for.
To [D] be overcome [Bm] by your presence Lord.
Your presence [D]
Lord.
[Bm] Let us be calm.
Let [A] us be calm.
[Bm] More aware of your [A] presence [D] Lord.
Let us [A] experience [Bm] the glory of [A] your goodness.
[D] Let [A] us be calm.
[Bm] More aware of [A] your presence.
[D]
Let us [A] experience the [Bm] glory [A] of your goodness.
[D] Let us [A] be calm.
[Bm] More aware of [A] your presence.
[D] Let [A] us experience [Bm] the glory of [A] your [D] goodness.
Let us [A] be calm.
More [Bm] aware [A] of your presence.
[D] Let us [A] experience [Bm] the glory of [A] your goodness.
[D] Your presence Lord.
[A]
Holy Spirit, you are welcome here.
[D] Come flood this place and fill [Bm] the atmosphere.
[A] Your glory God is what our hearts long for.
[D] To be overcome by [Bm] your presence Lord.
[A]
Wow, so good.
[E] I love the fact that you can take any part of this song and you can kind of pull it in to any type of worship setting.
So if you just wanted to bring that chorus in or that bridge in and kind of tag it on the end of something as well.
It's so useful and there's so many just great parts of the song that you can work in and do different things.
You got your capo too.
Brian and key of A.
Very simple song chord progression wise.
The verse just goes back and forth from the A to the D.
Kind of a little finger picking.
[A]
And then the chorus [B] we just keep it there and [D] then instead of holding the D out we [Bm] bring it to the B minor.
And then the only part that's a little bit different is the bridge.
Let us become more aware of your presence.
It's like [D]
a [E] walk down and a walk up from the [A] D [A] and then the A over C sharp B minor.
[Bm] And then back up.
And then we hold out the D at the very end on that long note before we drop back into the
Holy shit.
That's impressive.
You can actually talk about the actual chords while you're playing the different positions.
That's real talent there.
Keep it all straight.
Great song guys.
Thanks so much for coming and sharing it with us.
Absolutely.
