Hey guys, it's Jobe and I want to show you guys how to play Beautiful by Phil Wickham.
So we have the album version.
If you like the key that the album version is in, he drops his guitar a half step down.
I'm going to play it in D and capo it at the first fret.
So when I play it with the album version it sounds the same.
But double check me on that just to be sure.
So here are the chords.
We have
Let me move this up so that you might be able to see better.
We have [Eb] D to [C]
[Ab] G, B [Cm] minor.
[Bb]
[Eb] So D
[Ab]
[Cm] G B minor
to A.
[Bb] And so here is the first verse.
[Eb] I see your face [Ab] in every sunrise.
[Cm] The colors of the morning [Ab] are [Bb] inside your [Eb] eyes.
The world awakens [Ab] in the light of the day.
[Cm] I look up to the skies and [Bb] say, you're beautiful.
[Eb]
[Ab] [Bb] Okay, so that's the album version.
The version that I play is
I play it in the key of C.
And the reason I do this is so that I can get that little riff that the second guitar plays
[Eb] on just like the first guitar.
So I'm going to raise the capo up to the third fret so that I can still be in that same key
of the album version and play in C.
So it's C
to [Ab]
F
[B] to A [Cm] minor
[Bb]
G
[Eb]
[Ab] to [Cm] A [Bb] minor and G.
And so the cool part about it is that I can get the little riff that the guitarist plays
in the beginning.
Here it goes, I'll show you.
[Eb]
[Ab]
[Cm]
[C]
[Bb] [Eb]
[Ab]
[Cm]
[Eb]
[Bb] [Eb]
So let's learn that.
It's not as complex
It's not complex at all.
So, I have this C chord.
And what I'm doing is I'm [C] hammering the [Fm] D [G] string, which I'm playing with my middle [Ab] finger.
So I'm basically strumming [Eb] and hammering that [Cm] D string.
[Eb] Third time around you want to hit that G string and [Ab] then go to the F.
So [A] it sounds [Eb] like
[Ab]
[Cm] I'm doing it very sloppy, just like hitting all the strings at the same time,
but as long as you hit those general strings it should sound [Fm] good.
[Eb] Then
[Ab] you go to [Eb] the A minor, and [G] you're also hammering the D string with [Cm] your [Fm]
ring finger.
[Cm]
[Bb] But
[Gm] that time on the [Fm] A minor, [Cm]
so I hammer the D string, and then when you [B] change
you want to let go of your middle finger, which is [Eb] playing the G string.
So, stay with [Fm] me.
[Cm]
[Bb]
So on [Cm] the A minor, you want to let go of that D string,
and then the middle finger at the G string, so it's kind of like you're playing A7, A minor 7.
[Eb]
And then [Bb] going straight to the G.
The G I play in [N] this form, so that I'm holding [Abm] the B string [Bb] on the first fret,
and I can let go of it and hammer it.
[Eb] So
[Ab]
[Cm]
[Bb] here's the first verse.
[Eb] I see your face [Ab] in every sunrise
The [Cm] colors of the morning [Bb] are inside your [Eb] eyes
The world awakens in [Ab] the light of a day
[Cm] I look up to the skies and [Bb] say,
You're beautiful
[Eb]
So [Ab]
[Cm]
[Bb]
[Eb]
[Ab]
[Cm]
[Bb]
[Eb]
I hope this tutorial is some help to you.
Let me know if it's too confusing and I'll redo the video.
But good luck, and see [N] you guys later.
So we have the album version.

We have [Eb] D to [C]
[Ab] G, B [Cm] minor.
[Bb]

F
[B] to A [Cm] minor

G
[Eb]
[Ab] to [Cm] A [Bb] minor and G.

[Eb]
