[B] [E] [N] Hey guys, how you doing?
Andy with you today taking a look at Kenny Rogers, The Gambler.
Great acoustic classic, very much the sort of song that gets requested when you're playing
solo gigs.
I know I have it being requested.
Oddly enough, I haven't actually learned it
until I actually got here to teach you guys, which is kind of funny.
There is a little chart for you.
It's a lot of the same chords, but the form is kind of
just getting the order of the chords.
This will definitely help you out.
Print it out,

It takes you [G] through to the lesson download page.
All free, just
print it [A] out or bring it up on your screen and it will help you out.

Teaching
just fun little quick things that I'm going to be
[D] impressing you with.
Well, [Em] alright, so the chords that we have in this song are mostly open chords.
[E] They are E, [A] A,
we [B] have a twist of a B, first fret, sorry, second fret on the A string, fourth fret on the D,
fourth fret on the D,
[Bb] and they're our main ones until we get our key change.
So a [E] groove is bass, strum, up, down, bass, strum, up, down.
By bass I mean the bass note of the
lowest note.
It doesn't have to be just that bass note, but that's the breakup of the strings
that you're getting.
Sort of low, high, high, high.
So we start off, E, [A] A, E, [E]
E, E, [B] B.
And now you can either do this as a full on bar chord, so 2, 4, 4, 4, but the way that I was doing
it, getting those nice open strings ringing out in there, 2, 4, [E] 4, O, O.
[B]
[Bbm] So you [Gb] can pick and choose.
This guitar's a little tough to hold down those bar chords [B] for the entire song, so that's
part of the reason as well as liking the [D] open jangliness.
But you can pick and choose.
So, from the start there, [E] E, A, [A]
[E] E, E, E, [B] and B.
See, there I'm doing the bar version, so pick and choose.
[E] The next line, E, A, [A] E,
[A] A, [E] E, [B] B, [E] E.
[Bb] Really similar to the first one, but as I said, things are flipped [Bbm] around.
Does that confuse you?
It's because you haven't got the chart.
Get the chart [N] and it will make it a whole lot easier to
be able to follow through that, what's going on there.
So chorus has some very similar changes
going on here, but slight variations, and that's where it actually gets confusing because it's so
similar to the [E] verse.
So we get E, [A] A, E.
[E] Same again, [A] A, E,
[E] B, B.
[B]
[F] Now, here's where we get some quick changes.
