[Db] [Ab] [Db] [Ab]
[Db] [Ab] I'm looking through you.
[C] Beatles tutorial this is one [Ab] of Paul's tunes from Rubber
Soul.
[Eb] I believe it's a song he [D] wrote about Jane Asher.
[Gb] Anyway [Ab] I'll show you
how to play this one.
[C] Capo is needed for the first fret if you want to [Eb] keep it in
tune with the album version.
If you don't have a capo [C] don't worry about it, just don't use a
capo.
[E]
Anyway [C] we'll put it on the first fret for the tutorial.
This song [F] chords
are fairly [Ab] simple but there are lots of quick [Eb] chord changes in this one which
might make it a bit tricky [F] for beginners.
[Gb] The other thing I should point out too
with this [Db] one, the C chords [Gb] in this one are played with the pinky [Fm] on the first
[F] string third fret.
[C] Okay you don't have to [Gb] but I think correctly [Db] in this song that's
how they're played and that means [Ab]
you're gonna be going [Db] between C and [Ab] G
a fair bit in this song so you want to play your G's with this formation as well which
makes it an easy [Db] transition.
So the C [Ab] back to the G okay.
[Db] [Ab]
[Db] [Ab] [Db]
[Ab] Now you're gonna be doing a fair bit of that.
Alright so don't don't play your four finger G's if you can.
Play it like this that way [Db] the
transition to the C with that first string fret on the third is easier.
Alright [C] let's just get the intro [D] out of the way quickly [Ab] first.
[Eb] We need those two chords
which are a D chord, sorry a G chord and a D chord just up the fretboard.
[Ab] So this G
[Eb] actually is shaped like a D so make your D [C] formation where you normally would [Eb] and
slide it up to the seventh fret in relation to the capo.
[Ab] Just strum the top
three strings.
The next chord [Ebm] is a G chord but it's going to be shaped like this.
So the first [Bb] string is fretted on the fifth then the second and third [F] strings are fretted on the
seventh.
[Eb]
Strum from the fourth string down as the fourth is effectively a D so you get [Ab] and
[Eb]
then just come down to a G [Ab] chord.
[Db] You're going [Ab] between the G and [Db] the C as I was mentioning [Ab] earlier.
[Db]
[Ab] [Db] [Ab]
[Db] [Ab] Strum kind [Db]
[Ab] [Db]
[Ab] of just like that.
[Db] [Ab]
Alright let me just go through the chord slowly now for the verse.
I'm [Db] looking [Bbm] through you,
[Fm] where did you [Eb] go?
[Ab] I thought I [Bbm] knew you, [Fm]
what did I [Eb] know?
You [Fm]
don't [Bb] look different [Bbm] but [Ab] you [Db]
have [Eb] changed.
[Ab] [Db] I'm looking [Bbm] through you, [Db]
you're not the [Ab] same.
[Db] [Ab] [Db]
[Ab] Okay so I'm [Db] looking starts on the C.
Looking.
You're going [C] to run down to an A minor which is
basically then from C [Cm] you're going to run down the fifth string to a B over
[Fm] [Ab] C and then to a
regular A minor.
[Bbm] Through you to E minor.
[Fm] Where did you [Eb] go?
D.
On the D sometimes I just like to release the
first string.
Come back into the D when you're coming back up to the next G.
[Ab]
I [Db] thought.
Notice
I'm [Ab] doing that shape G so [Db] I thought
[Fm] I knew
[Bbm] you.
E minor.
[Fm] What did I [Eb] know?
D.
That release there, you don't have to do that but I think that's how it does it in the album version.
[Fm] E minor.
You don't look [Bbm]
different.
You don't have to do it this way you can [Fm] go straight to an A minor but [Bbm] I like to do it Asus4.
Different.
And then release to the A minor.
So make an A [Fm] minor and then pinky just comes up onto the second string [Bb] third fret.
Different.
And then release it.
Different.
To the A minor.
But [Ab] you G
[Db] have C [Eb] changed D.
Doing that release again.
[Ab] G.
I'm [Db] walking down from the C to the [Bbm] A minor again.
Back up to the C.
[Db]
You're not the [Ab] same.
[Db] Back [Ab] into just the G [Db] to the C as it was [Ab] in the intro.
[Db]
[Ab] So just one time up to speed with the [Bb] vocals.
[Ab]
[Db] [Ab] [Db] [Ab]
[Db] [Ab] I'm looking [Bbm] through you.
[Fm] Where did you [Eb] go?
[Ab] I [Fm] thought I [Bbm] knew you.
[Fm] What did I [Eb] know?
[Fm] You don't [Bb] look different but [Ab] you [Db] have [Eb] changed.
[Fm] I'm looking [Bbm] through you.
[Db] You're not the [Ab] same.
[Db] [Ab]
[Db] [Ab] You repeat that exactly the same for verse two.
[Bbm]
And the only other part you need [Gb] for the song is the bridge which is very [Db] simple.
Again just going from [Ab] C to G again.
[Db] Why tell me why did you not [Ab] treat me right?
Back to [Db] C.
Love has a nasty habit [Ab] of disappearing.
[Bb] Here I just like to go straight to the Dsus.
So because you're already on a [Db] C, because you're [C] fretting that, you can just leave that pinky there and just come back and shape [Eb] your D.
You release the pinky to come back to the D.
So from the Dsus to the D.
[Db] Love has a nasty habit of [Eb] disappearing overnight.
[Ab] You're bleeding [Bbm] on me.
And then back into a [Bb] verse again.
[B] Then I think all you've got to do [Bb] is repeat another verse, repeat bridge [Gb] again.
And the outro [Ab] is just [Gb] again the same as the intro.
[Ab] Just [Db] the G to the C.
[G]
That's it.
Just the [C] two parts to the song.
[F] But as I said, lots of quick chord changes.
It is a fairly quick song so even when I said I played it up to speed it was probably [E] still a bit slow.
[Eb] But obviously just start learning it [Db] slowly and then speed it up as you become more familiar with the chords.
I think that's all I need to show you for this one.
So anyway, I hope that was good enough for you.
Bye.
