Hello and God bless you.
[G] This is Darryl Cook with the Piano [Abm] Clubhouse and today
I want to give you some different changes you can use [Em] for the 7 3 6 chord progression in the key of Ab
[Eb] All right, let's get started.
Alright, what I want to do is I just want to go to the key of Ab and I just want to cycle through some
7 3 6's and just just give you some different [Gm] options for how you can voice it to
Have it sound real fat for you.
Okay, so the first one that I like to use [Dm] is
[C]
[Cm] Right, [Dm] very simple.
[C] [Fm] [Bb]
All right.
So [F] the first chord I have F [Bb] a
B flat D in my left [F] hand and then I have the F a C, but I'm gonna [G] grace off that [F] G.
So
Okay, [C] I here I have the C the E and the B flat
On my left [Ab] and my right hand.
I have a E flat a flat [Gm] C
[Dm] [C] [Cm]
My on the six I have the F
the C the E flat [Ab] G and here I have the [Cm] a
flat C E flat G B flat
All right.
Let me see.
Another one.
I [Ab] like to use is real melodic
I got it from the guys that play on [Bb] the West Coast.
They do something like this
[C] [Fm]
[Cm] [Bb] [C] [Fm] [Bb] [C]
[Cm] [Ab] [Bb] [C] [Cm]
[Fm] [F] [Bb] So really in my left is the same chords
[C] [Bb] Same [C] chord that I just broke down
[Cm] [Bb] [C]
[Ab] All right
[Cm] We'll make sure [Dm] you have those chords
[C] [Cm] and [C] the the line here is
Gracing [Bbm] off the B flat to the C.
[Eb] [Bb] [Ab] So [Gb] after the C you're going back to the B flat.
So
G [G] flat G
[Bb]
[Fm] B flat
Hey [Ebm] flat, so [Gb] and [Gm] [Ab]
that's all over [Bb] that over those left-hand chords
[C]
[Ab] [Bb] [C] [Ab]
And if you wanted to after you hit that a flat you'll fall onto that F minor chord, all right C E flat F
[Bb] Now [D]
[C] [Ab] I also play it like like that so I [Bb] will go
So [D] [Bb] you have this chord the F a B flat B the F B flat C
[D]
[Bb] [D] All right
Here is like a chain.
So [C] my left hand [N] is playing the same thing.
I've played before the C [C] the E B flat
[G] [D] But that's my right hand is playing this like D chord so I have the a
The D and a G [A] flat so [Bb] real slow
So [D]
I'm gonna go from here to a E diminished
[Bb] I'm gonna make [D] sure I voice the G
[Db] So [E] I have the [Db] E the G and the B flat
the D flat EG
[F] [Bb]
[D] [Db] [Cm] [Ab] [Cm]
Here I have the same left hand chord
[F] Have [Cm]
the right hand chord.
I broke down earlier the a flat C E flat G B flat.
What I'm gonna do is
[Ab] [Cm] he's gonna
[Ab] [Db] Lift off the G and [Ab] the B flat and go right to the a flat
Okay, so so I'm still voicing that melodic move
[Bb] [D] [Db]
[Ab] All right, so that's a real nice
Way to play it.
Oh
[N] Let's do do this.
I play I play this a lot.
So [Bb] [A]
[Cm] [Bb] [A] [Cm]
[Bb] same chord here
[Am] This is where we had a change so I have to see the E the B flat the E the a and the D flat
[Cm] I have the same [Eb] left hand
Playing a straight [Cm] E flat on top
[Bb] So [Am] [Cm]
that's a real nice one to have Let's take
[A] So [Gb]
[Cm] [A] [Gb] [Cm] [A]
here I'm playing the F to B
