[Cm] Hey, what's up you guys Marty Schwartz here with [Ebm] guitar jams calm
I'm going to show you a [E] couple of cool little tricks for blues and G
And I just made an acoustic jam [A] track for you
[N] You
[Abm] can go right to that jam track and immediately [B] practice some of these ideas over it and it'll be really [C] fun
It's a blues and [E] G and when I think about acoustic blues one of the characteristics
[B] I think is using those open strings to
You know [Bb] to emphasize [B] because they sound so beautiful on an acoustic guitar so check this out
Right off the bat if you're playing the blues and [C] G
You've got like a [G] g7 [C] and you got a c7, you know [D] different things like [C] that
They're all taught on this [Bm] new [A] series.
I did [D] but [B] one thing that's really awesome is the open G string [C] and the
open D string [D] and
Hammering on pulling [B] off emphasizing those open strings right there
[Bm] So what you can do right off the bat, even if you're [B] a beginner you can start practicing
[C] [B] your ring finger on the [A] third fret of [B] the G string and also ring finger on the third [Bm] fret of the D string and
Just get your finger [B] down there.
You're gonna [E] nudge the string a little bit like [Bb]
it's [B] not a bit.
Don't bend it out of tune
It's not like that.
It's just a little [Bb] nudge [G] and then you let it ring out [Bb] open with one [Gm] pick
or two picks
[C]
The other thing is you can kind of pull it [B] down as a pull-off
[Gm] [Bb]
[C] like that
[N]
[A] Cool thing is you can do [C] the exact same thing on the D string [Dm]
[Bb]
[G]
all kinds of combinations there
[C] But then the other thing you can do is you can do it on the fifth fret of those strings as well
And if you're thinking of it as the blues [Bb] scale right here, [Gb] you know your G blues scale
Which most of you guys are going to be [C] you know working on that
[Bb]
[Em] What you can do is you can do like [F] for instance the [B] you know on the G string you have [D] open
three [Eb]
five
six [B] and seven and
Then on the D string you have open three and five and so what you can do is there's there's all kinds of cool little
Tricks and I want you to [Bb] besides any licks that you already know in the pentatonic scale.
You can start to
[B] incorporate some of these [C] ideas playing the G string and then you're gonna pull off on the [Gm] third and on the [C] fifth and
[G] then even on the six and even on the seven if you want and
[C] Then on the D string you can do the three and [D] the five and
[Dm]
[D]
That's going to go [B] along with [E] the [C] pentatonic or the blues scale that [B] you're already working on, you know with your [Gm] licks and stuff like
[Dm] See [Gbm] that you can just immediately, [C] you know emphasize those open D and G [Bm] strings even just within [A] your [B] regular pentatonic
[C] Check it out.
See that so instead of in a normal kind of pentatonic run you might go
[Bb]
[G] But [F] with the open G with the open G string you could [Gb] go
[Dm]
[Gm] [C]
[Gb] [C]
[G] [Bb] [C]
[G] So then another [Bm] thing is you could do an open D [D] string and then hammer on three five like
[G]
[N]
[C] And I like that a lot then you could even go
You can do it on the G string, but I [D] like this one a lot, too
[G] So I went open hammer three five on the D hammer.
Don't hurt him and
[C] Then I got index finger on the third fret of [B] the G and I'm just gonna pull it [Bb] off to open
[Gm]
[Bb]
[G] [Bb]
[G] [F]
[Gm]
[Gb] [Gm]
[C] [Gm]
[F]
[G] All
Right, [B] so that's just one little taste of some of the things that I'm teaching in this new [C] acoustic blues set
So let's just recap recap some of the things that I want you [B] to to work on.
You've got your G blues scale
[F] [Gm]
[F] [Gm]
But [A] then you also have even [G] within when you're playing the [B] chords of the copying you've [D] got the open [B] D string to the third fret
[Dm]
[D] and then the same thing on [C] the G string open and three and
[G] Any [E] of those combinations
[G]
[C]
[G]
[D]
[G] [C]
[Bb] [C]
[F]
[G] [F]
[D] [G]
[A] [N]
[C] Kind of a little concept [Gbm] there and [D] then also just within your regular pentatonic stuff
[Bb] [F] [Bb] You [Gb] can incorporate the [C] open D in the open [B] G string within those [Bb] licks
[C] [Gm]
[C] [G]
[Gm]
[F] [Bb] [Am]
[F] [Gm] [D]
[Gm]
[G]
[A] Right off the bat whether you're beginner [Eb] intermediate or advanced whatever just keep in mind that you've got those open strings to try and [Ebm] incorporate
And it works [Bm] great with an acoustic guitar the tones of your acoustic
[B] You know really, you know can feature those those ideas
