Marty Schwartz here from GuitarJams.com.
[Gb] How you doing?
Hope you're doing well.
Got the capo on the first fret.
You only need easy chords.
There's one cool [N] little like R&B chord, maybe you heard it in the intro, but it's really easy.
You do it with one finger, but it adds a cool little twist.
_ _ So we'll zoom in and break it all down.
Hopefully you have a good time doing it.
Do it.
Here we go. _
All right, we can do this one with _ easy chords.
There's one kind of cool jazz R&B chord _ that's actually pretty [Bb] easy to do, and I'm going
[E] to show you that as well in this [G] progression.
_ [Gb] _ There's really three sections.
[N] There's a verse, a pre-chorus, and then a chorus.
And that's all you got for the whole thing, so that's nice and fun.
_ _ Kind of a weird key on piano.
If we put the capo on the first [Gb] fret, we can get away with all these nice easy chords.
And here it goes.
Here's the verse.
It's [Fm] E minor _ to _ _ [Bb] C, [Db] _ _ _ _
_ _ [Ab] G, _ _ _ _
[B] _ [Eb] and D.
_ _ _ _ [N]
When you got a G to a D, _ this is a good way to play G sometimes [Ab] for that.
_ [Eb] _ _ [Ab] _ _
[N] _ That ring finger's on the third fret of the B, _ _ pinky's on the third [Ab] fret of the high E. _
_ You don't have to, but _ [Ab] that _ [E] ring finger can just [Gb] pivot between the D and G chord, and
that's kind of nice.
_ [Ab] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Fm] Okay, it looks like this.
_ _ [Db] _ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _
_ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _
[Fm] _ _ _ _ [Db] _ _ _ _
[Ab] _ _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Gb] I'm just kind of giving it a down, down, up, up, down, up, [F] down, up, up, down, [Gm] up, down,
up, [N] down, up, up, down.
_ But don't limit yourself to that.
_ And with these open chords, you can just pick any note and it's going to sound right as well.
So you could try and work in some picking too [Fm] if you can.
I'm like, _ _ _ _ _
[E] you know, I didn't pinpoint _ [C] what I was going to pick.
I just kind of randomly [Fm] picked strings. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Db] _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ _ [Eb] _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ _ [Db] _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [N] So it keeps doing that. _ _ _
And then it goes to a pre-chorus, and it does it twice.
It does this progression twice.
Same kind of rhythm, but A minor [F] for two of those [Bbm] rhythms. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Gb] And then G for one, D for [Bbm] one.
Then _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _ _
[Eb] _ _ _ _ _ [Bbm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [N] _ it goes into the chorus, _ and _ it's got that one R&B chord I was talking about.
And it's not too hard, but I'm going to show it to you _ first without it.
So it's just going to be G _ for two [Ab] rhythms, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
E minor for two [Fm] rhythms, _ _ _ _ then _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [F] C for two [Db] rhythms, _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
and then D for two rhythms.
[Eb] And _ once _ _ _ [Ab] again, G, G, _ _ _ [Fm] E minor, _
_ _ _ _ _ [Db] C, _
_ _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ D.
_ _ _ _ _ So [N]
here's that R&B chord now.
_ _ It's the easiest way to call it, or the easiest chord to call it would be C [B] slash D.
And it's in a lot of Stevie Wonder kind [Ab] of songs and, [N] you know, lots of R&B.
_ And it looks like this.
The easiest way to do it, _ you know, we've got the capo here.
You go one, two, three, four, five up.
_ _ And you're going [F] to bar starting on the A [Eb]
string all the way [Db] across. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ It's got this kind of suspension sound _ _ _ _ that [Ab] then we resolve to our regular [Eb] D.
_ Hear that? _
[Bbm] _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ So watch.
[Fm] _ _ [Ab] G, G, G, _
_ [Fm] E minor, _ _ _ _
_ [Db] _ C, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ jazzy [Eb] chord, regular D [Ab] chord. _ _ _ _ _ _
[Fm] _ _ _ _ _ _ Let me try it one more [Db] time. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Bb] _ _ [Eb] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ [Db] _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ _ [Eb] _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ _ [Db] _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _
_ _ [Db] _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _
_ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _ [Fm] _
_ _ _ [Db] _ _ _ [Ab] _ _
_ _ _ [Eb] _ _ Pre [Bbm]-chorus, A minor, _ _ _ _ [Ab] G, _ _ _ _ [Eb] D, _ _
[Bbm] minor, _ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _
G, _ _ [Eb] _ D, _ _ [Ab] chorus. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Fm] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Db] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Bb] _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ _ [Ab] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Db] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _ [Eb] _
_ _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
_ _ [Eb] _ [Fm] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [N] _ _ _ All right, there it was.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Let's see.
Oh, yeah, lots of links down there.
_ Links, links, links.
I appreciate [Gb] all that support.
I really do.
Or even if you're just watching the videos, that's cool too. Thank you.
And I'm sure there will be more coming your way.
