Hi, here's another guitar from me a four-string cigar box guitar
I don't often make four strings, but they are nice to use in a an open G to [F#] G
[G] so D G B D, which is like the top four of a
Audrey open [A#m] G so you can do that sort of rolling [B] stone
[F#]
[B] [E] [B] [C#m] [B]
[F#] [B]
[F#] [C#] [N] So if you're a regular guitarist and you're used to open G, it's very easy.
You just don't have those bottom
Strings, but that's no problem because they're just they're just replicated notes [F#] anyway
If you're learning guitar, it's nice and easy [C#] to do this because you can put it [D#] in an open tuning and anywhere [B] on the neck
[C#]
You get a chord whether you play [B] fretted
[A]
[F#] I
Just a setup so you can do that either way
I'm playing this very clean just through my little Roland microcube if we add [G] on a [F#] little bit of
[B] [G]
[F#] [N]
You'll see it responds quite nicely to a bit of dirt on the out, so we've got a vintage Cuban
Romeo and Juliet a cigar box
precision style full pile pickup tone and volume control
Alpha pots good quality with the famous spray or a drop [F#] tone capacitor
this one is
through through neck construction with a [C#m] heel so that's
That's really really strong construction and a nice V shaped neck laminated from yellow popular
Sometimes called tulip wood and mahogany with a mahogany fretboard
But hard nickel silver frets you got your your position markers on the face and on the edge and
all in all
[F#] It's a nice guitar
The action is left fairly high for [C#] slide
[D#m] But not so heavy
Not so hard
[C#] Not [F#]
so [N] high that you can't relatively easily fret it although
I can always take the bridge down for you or supply with your lower or even higher bridge if you want higher action and
The action that they not is set really just a tad higher than a regular guitar
Just [C#m] saying catching the frets if you're playing slide as I say
[F#] [D] [F#]
[A#m] [A] [A#] [B]
[F#m] [N] So if you think about buying a cigar box guitar
Have a look at one of these this is
I've got the number on this one.
Yes, we have it's it's it's number
329 so I've made I've made a lot of this.
I do know what I'm doing with them
I've got the build down so that the next is stable
Playable the actions right the tones good and you can use these at home.
Just noodling around with a tiny little
It's all it is one of these little micro cubes or you can use it live I use a big well
It's a powerful small session at 75 watt amplifier
You can get a great sound either just for noodling around at home or actually going out playing solo gigs or playing with the band
Yeah, this one's a the other thing on this.
It's got a more conventional paddle headstock
you notice on a lot of cigar box guitars there are parallel neck for ease of construction and
It may be a bit weird if you used to a regular guitar, but it works absolutely fine and it party look at some other
ethnic instruments such as the Chinese
Lute and things like the Turkish sounds they've got a parallel
Narrow neck and they've been making this for hundreds if not thousands of years and they work fine things like six strings the tapered neck
Has become a Western convention.
So great with convention get yourself one of these they are great fun
As I say, I'll make a lot of them you will be able to buy cheaper ones
But if you buy one of these it's right
There's lots of people play these at home and in bands.
So, okay.
Thanks for your attention.
