A Team - Ed Sheeran - (Ukulele Tutorial) chords
Start Jamming...
Hello, it's me, the ukulele teacher, and I pity the fool who doesn't want to learn how to play The A Team by Ed Sheeran.
[F] [Cm] [G] Hi guys, it's a sunny day, we're out on the rooftop, so grab your uke, make sure it's in tune,
[Am]
[B] and sit back and relax while I teach you how to play The A Team by Ed [A] Sheeran.
Now you can play all of these chords down here in the normal position,
but what I've done to make it in tune with the record is I've got a capo,
which you can pick up at any music store for just a couple of dollars,
and put it on the second fret of the ukulele.
[Bm] The first thing I'm going to [F] teach you is the strumming pattern.
Down, down, up, down, up, down, up, [E] down, down, up, down, up, [A#] down, up.
Once you get it right, you can play it all the way [A] through for the whole song.
[Gm]
So for the intro, you'll just need [B] two chords.
The chord of G major, which you should already [D#] know by now.
The second chord [G#] that you'll need [E] is the chord of G [A#] major 7.
Now that is an [Am] open top string, like so.
[F#] And then just rest your first finger across the second fret of the [C#m] other three strings.
[G] And for the intro, you just swap between those two chords, like so.
[A] The chords you'll need for the verse are G, G major 7, which we've just learned,
[D#] E [A] minor,
[D] [D#] C6, which is a bit like C major,
[N] except you move the finger from the third fret to the second fret, [D] like this.
Those [N]
are the chords that you need for the verse.
The strumming pattern is the same all the way through.
So for the verse, you just play through the same five chords in the same order [F] twice.
G, G major 7, E minor, C6, and [D#] back to G again, like [A] this.
[E] [F#m]
[A]
[D] [G#] [D]
[A] [N] So the chorus is very straightforward.
We just have two new chords to add.
A minor 7, the easiest chord of [G] all,
because you actually don't put [A] anything down on your left hand.
[Bm] Just the four open [D#] strings.
And then the second chord [F] that you'll need [D] is B minor 7,
which you should be able to guess.
If A minor [Bm] 7 is all four open [N] strings,
then B minor 7 is a bar chord across the second fret for all four [C#m] strings.
And [C] we also put in the chord of C [D] major.
On this particular [C] song, though, I like to play it a different way than normal,
just to give it a slightly different [A] sound.
And that is to put my third finger on the fifth fret,
[G] my second finger on the fourth fret,
and my first finger on the third fret of the first two [D] strings, like this.
[A#] So to start off the chorus, you just play [A] these four chords through in the same order [F] twice.
A minor 7, C, [D] G, and B minor [G] 7.
Play that through twice, like so.
[D]
[A]
[G#m] [D]
[A] [C#m]
[N] Then the second half of the chorus, you play the following chords through four times.
E minor, C6, and G.
Four [F#m] times.
[D] [A] [D]
[A] [F#m]
[D] [A] [D]
[E] [F] And then the fifth time through, you also add a [C#m] B minor 7.
[F#m] [D] [A]
[E] And that's the chorus.
Before you go back to the verse, you play G major 7 once [A] as well.
[C#m] [A] And go straight into the next verse.
[F] The song goes verse, chorus, verse, [Dm] chorus, solo.
For the [N] solo, you can just play the chord of G through three times,
and then the chord of G major 7 [A] through once.
[D#] And then you repeat the chorus.
Go [E] back to the A minor 7.
[D] At the end of the final chorus, you [Gm] repeat the following chords over and over,
[D#] the angels [D] to fly, to fly, to fly bit.
E minor, C6, [E] G, B minor 7.
[D] Like this.
[A] [D]
[A] [D]
[C#m] [D] [Bm]
[A] [E] [F#] And then for the last line, or angels to die, you have the B minor [C#m] 7 to [A] G.
Or angels to die.
[D]
That's how you play A Team by Ed Sheeran.
I'll be back soon with another lesson.
In the meantime, for the last line, or angels to die, you have the B minor 7 [F#] to G.
[E] Or angels [A] to die.
[G]
