[N] Hello it's me the [A] ukulele teacher here [F] to teach you how to play No Woman No Cry by [G#] Bob Marley.
So [C] grab your uke, [G] make sure it's in tune
[Gm] and get ready to [D] play No Woman [B] No Cry.
Now this is a super
easy song because there's just four chords in it [D#] all the way through.
The chords of C, [E] G, A minor
and F.
[D#] Now let's be honest you probably know those chords already anyway but just in case you need a
refresher [G] let me show you them really quickly now.
If you already know them skip ahead.
To play [C] the
chord of C just put your third finger on the third fret of the first [C#] string.
C should sound like [C] this.
To play the chord of G put your first finger on the second fret of the [D] third string,
[C#] your second finger on the [C] second fret of the first string and your third finger [D] on the third
fret of the second [G] string.
G should sound like this.
To play the chord of A minor just put [D#] your
first finger on the second fret of the [G] fourth string.
A minor should sound like [Am] this.
And to
[G#] play the chord of [E] F put your first finger [Cm] on the first fret of the [D#] second string and your second
[C] finger on the second fret of the fourth string.
[G] F [Cm] should sound like this.
[F] Now [G] we've got our four
chords [C] let's play the song.
There's just really [A#] two parts to it.
There's the intro and chorus which
are [C] the same and then there's the verse.
[Gm] So let me teach you how to play [G] the intro.
Now this is a
really simple [F#] arrangement.
If [C] you want to copy me [F#] that's fine.
If you want to add bits to it or take
[C#] bits away [D] that's fine as well.
For the [F#] intro slash chorus there are two lines.
[F] The first line is C, [C#]
G,
A minor, F.
The second line is C, [A#] F, [Cm] C, G.
Let me play it through to you once as the intro and then I'll break it
down for [C] you.
[G]
[Am] [F]
[C] [F]
[C] [G]
[C] [G]
[C] [F]
[C] [F]
[C] [G]
The first line is just [C] C, G, A minor, F.
But when I get to the G for [C#] one note I [C] put my first
finger on the third [A] fret of the first string and then take it off.
So it sounds [G] like this.
For the woman no bit.
So I'm just [A] holding down that G chord but for one note I hammer on with
my little finger to the third [A#] fret of the first [G] string.
Then I go to the [A] A minor and then the [F] F.
And for the [C#] F it's just down up [A] down up like [F] this.
So let me take you through that first line.
[C] C,
[G]
G, A minor [Am] and [F]
[C#] then the second line [C] C,
[F] F, [C] C.
And [G] then that last G again I do something a little bit
[A] different.
I pluck the bottom three strings with my thumb and first [G] two fingers and then [A#] with the
first finger this time instead of hammering on [C] I lift off my second finger [Dm] and then put it back
onto the [G] second fret.
So on the top string I'm playing and then I go [C#] back to the third fret
of [C] the second string.
[B] So basically what I'm playing is the [C] third fret of the second string,
the open string of the first [A] string, [C] the second fret of the first string and [G#] then the third fret
of the second string [G] again.
[C] That might look a bit fiddly [A#] but when you've got your [D] finger in the G
position all that really involves is [C#] lifting up your [A] middle finger at the right [F] time.
So it [G] sounds
like this.
Now again if you don't want to do [C#] any of these [A] fiddly bits with the G's then [G] you can
just play the chords normally.
[C] C, G, [G]
[Am] A minor, [F] F,
[C] C, [F] F, [Am] C, [G] G.
And [F#] that works as the [G] intro and the chorus.
But if you want to play it with the little fiddly bits as well then it sounds even better.
Now we
move on to [C#] the verse.
Now great news the verse is still just [C] the same four chords this time in a
different order.
C, G, A minor [C#] and F.
And you play those chords through in that order eight times [G] for the
verse.
[Gm] You can play any strumming pattern you like [C] but this is a reggae song so I'm going to teach you
a very basic reggae strumming pattern.
[G]
[Am] [F]
[C] [G]
[Am]
[F] [N]
[C] Let's count one [Cm] and two and three and four [C] and one and [A#] two and
three and four and.
[G] When you've got that count going over and over again in your [D#] head one [C#] and two
[G#] and three and four and one and two [Gm] and three [A] and four [C#] and.
We are going to play a down [Cm] up on the
two [C#] and and [G] the four and.
So it's one and down up three and down up [G#] one and [A#] down up [G] three and down
up.
Let me show you that on the chord of C.
One and [C] two and three and four [G#] and one [C] and two [G] and three [C] and
four.
Now again just start really slow to begin with till you get the knack of it and then [F] you
can speed up a [G] little bit and when you speed [A#] up it should sound [C] a bit like this.
One and two and three and [G] four and one and two and three and four [Am] and one and two and three and four and one and two and three and [C] four and [G] two and three and four and one [Am] and two and three and four [F] and.
[G] And you can hear already [D#] just by missing out [G] the one and and the three and that it gives you a bit of a reggae swingy feel to it.
When you get that down C, G, [C#] A minor, F.
Play it through eight [C] times and you've got
the verse.
[G] [Am]

four.
Now again just start really slow to begin with till you get the knack of it and then [F] you
can speed up a [G] little bit and when you speed [A#] up it should sound [C] a bit like this.
One and two and three and [G] four and one and two and three and four [Am] and one and two and three and four and one and two and three and [C] _ _ _ four and [G] two and three and four and one [Am] and two and three and four _ [F] _ _ _ and.
[G] And you can hear already [D#] just by missing out [G] the one and and the three and that it gives you a bit of a reggae swingy feel to it.
When you get that down C, G, [C#] A minor, F.
Play it through eight [C] times and you've got
the verse. _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _
_ _ [F] _ _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
[Am] _ _ _ _ _ [F] _ _ _
_ That's how to [C] play No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley.
I've been the ukulele teacher.
If you have
[Am] any requests for future lessons let me [C] know in the comments below.
Until next time I love
