[C] [F] Hey guys, it's Cory from Hawaii music supply welcome back.
We're gonna [N] do finger picking
techniques and things like [C] how to hold your how to even pick the string and
[G] We're gonna go over some patterns, [C] so let's do it [Em] cover
This is a C major 7th, so it looks like [F] a staircase if you [C] you know
And then the next chord you're gonna slide on two [Gm] frets
[Dm] Which is like a B [G] flat so the [N] picking pattern?
You pay attention to my right hand.
It's gonna go like this
[Em] [C]
[Em] [C] [Em]
That's a pattern so it's that's third [C] second fourth [Em] first [C] fourth second
And [Em]
[C] [Em]
[C] [G] then next chord
[Bb]
Then
[Dm] [Bb] [C] go back
[N] practice that until you get like the the speed and the strength in your fingers and the coordination [C] slowly get faster and
[Bb]
[C]
[Gm]
[A] [E]
you can do it on this [C] type of
[Gm]
[C]
[Gm]
[Ab]
[G]
[N] If you're not
Comfortable using three fingers yet.
You can just use your your pointer and thumb so follow that same [C] pattern
One
[G] more thing [N] too is you notice my pinky is kind of resting on [Bm] the
On the ukulele [E] it gives you it's a lot more comfortable [N] playing.
You know you're not gonna strain your [C] your hand
[Em] So try to rest your
pinky [G] you know wherever it's comfortable and
[B] Try to you know find
[C] Where where [Em] it's easiest to pick?
And you can you know rest your arm on the other end of the uke
so
[Dm] [C]
this is a
[A] The flamenco I guess type technique you can play on the uke
[E] [A]
[E] [Gb]
[E] [Gm] [A]
[D] [Am]
[D] Normal [A] speed
[Dm] [Gm]
[A] [Gm]
[N] if you notice again my my pinky was rested on the
[A] Right beneath the sound hole gives me like support on it
Picking the kind of tone you want is like
It's really clear you can let the note ring for
As long as it you know can so you kind of want to get
Kind of underneath the string
And [D] kind of get it consistent with the rest of [A] your fingers even with the thumb too you kind of want to
Get underneath it
[Dm]
[C] [Gm] This is another popular [N] technique
It's similar to the first one, but the pattern is a little different
You're gonna be picking your or using your pointer in middle
To pick the bottom strings and your your thumb is just gonna go back and forth between these two strings
So the pattern is I'll play it slowly
[C] So your thumb is gonna be going
Just back and forth
And then your bottom string your bottom fingers are I mean [Fm] you're the bottom strings are gonna be picked like [C] this
for every note so
Okay, let's practice these chords over that technique.
So we're gonna do a C
[F] and F [G] and then a G7
[C]
You [F]
[G]
[C]
[F] [G]
[C]
can play songs like this this is on fire from pure heart
it's [F] [G]
[C] [F]
[G] [C]
[N] not the same pattern, but I'm doing these exercises will make it easier to play those kind of songs, [C] so
[N] You can play songs like
This is Super Mario Brothers 3
[A] That [Dm]
[G] [C] [A]
[Dm] [G]
[C] [N] kind of picking of course you got to practice first to get that [Gb] speed, okay?
So those three techniques I went over
They're not the only techniques out there those are just I guess the three popular techniques
Hopefully, [Eb] you know you can incorporate incorporate that into your playing [Dm] and
Keep practicing and [E] stay tuned [C] for other tutorials
[Db] [C] [Gb] [A] [Ab] [N]
