I always appreciate it, but let's get to it.
Chords real quick.
The chords to [Bb] this intro are Bb to [F] F major, to Eb [Eb] major, back to [Bb] Bb major.
Starts over again.
Bb [F] major, F major, G [Gm] minor.
That's the third fret there.
Up a [Ab] half step, added the middle finger.
So [Abm] that'd be Ab major, [Bb] back up to Bb.
So it's a perfect example of using the major pentatonic, which would be the Bb major [B] pentatonic,
which is right there.
The root is on the sixth fret [Gm] of the high E, or the sixth fret of the low E, or the
third fret of the G.
So check it out.
We're going to go.
[Bb] [Gm]
[G] So we got the fifth to the third of [Bb] the G.
[G] [Ab]
And then a whole step bend.
[Gm]
And then the note relaxes.
[G] [Bb] [Bm]
[Gm] [B]
[C] Okay, then it bends up [Cm] again, and then we got to get our pinky to the sixth fret of the B.
[C] And then that ring finger comes back [D] down.
So [C] [A] everything so [Bb] far.
[G] [C]
[Am] Starts the same way [Bb] again.
[C] But then it's on the G string.
[Em] So you got five on the D, three on the G, to five [Bb] on the G.
[C]
[C] [G] [Bb] So three, five.
Then a bend without picking.
[Fm] Brought down.
So you got the fifth [E] fret on the G.
[Dm] Already bent.
Picked.
[C] Brought down to [Bb] that.
[B]
[C] [Bb]
And we're going to [G] hit that, which is the root.
We're going to hit that twice.
Everything from the top.
[C]
[Bb] [C] [Bb]
Nice little turnaround [G] lick right here.
Five on the D.
And then [Db] four, five on the A.
To [Bb] the root, which is going to be the three of the G.
[B] Check it out.
[Gm]
[C] [Bb] [D] [Bb]
[B] Now we go up an octave.
[Gm]
[D] Or, actually, even easier.
[B] So we'll slide to the twelfth fret on the G string.
Really just from the 11.
Use your middle finger.
[Bbm]
[G] Back.
[B] Thirteenth fret on the B.
Bend.
It's just the same lick, but an octave higher.
[G]
[B] Then bend it up.
Pinky's going to go on the 13 [C] of the high E.
[Cm] [G] [D]
[Cm] [A] Alright, then, [Gm] finally.
And we're going between the 12 on the G and the 11 on the B.
[Bb] Then we're going to bend the 13 on [Bm] the high E.
[E] [Db] [Bbm]
[G] [Ab] [Bm] So you're trying to bend it up a whole step and a half step.
[Eb] Then it goes natural.
[B] 13, 11.
[Bbm] 14, 11.
So this is a really cool little opening.
It mixes the major and the minor pentatonic.
This last little piece is a really cool opening.
It's the minor pentatonic, whereas all the other [G] parts are the major.
Let's go over the whole thing.
Real slow.
[Bb]
[G] [C]
[Bb] [Cm] [Bb]
[B]
[C] [E]
[Bbm]
[B] [C] Alright, I hope you dug the licks.
We'll see you in another lesson real soon.
Take care.
