Hey y'all.
Every once in a while I'll get a request and [G] it's I think a clever
request so I'll go ahead and do it even though I assume going into it that I'm
basically doing it just for that one person who asked for it.
And so I was a
little bit surprised when so many people were interested in this Andy Griffith
theme song.
[E] So I'll [N] run through how I play and again this is my own
arrangement of it based on listening to it.
There are other people on YouTube
that do all kinds of versions that have they do the whistling part and the
bass line you know as a finger pick kind of jazz song arrangement.
But this is just
my arrangement the half-assed way I kind of do it.
So I'll show you what chords I use.
I think the key anyway for most of these chords is that you're pretty much
picking or at least I am [E] the A D G and B strings for most of them.
That's sort of
a middle [G] you know that [E] kind of rhythm to it on the middle strings mostly.
So at
any rate the version that I played along with is certainly an E.
So it starts off
with [F#]
E7.
So this is a different voicing for an E7 than I normally use but I
think this voicing works.
Do your E7 as the two-fingered version with the
open D string [B] but then also add the B at the third fret.
So you have [Bm]
A
[A] [Am] A minor
and for the A minor [G] I concentrate just [A#m] on those three strings D [Am] D G and B.
[Bm] So
you got [Am] [E] back to E [F#]
C [C#] sharp 7 [C] and on this one it is important not to hit either of
the two E [C#] strings.
[F#]
Regular F [B] sharp to B7 and then the second [E] time through it's
[Bm] E to E7.
[Am] A A minor [E] [F#] E F sharp [B]
B7.
So it's the same chords except you're skipping
over one of them I [Em] guess the second time through.
And then [E] goes through another
one of the E.
[A]
[C#] [F#] [B]
[E] [Bm] [Am]
[B] That this time through the second full time through [A] it goes
straight from [B] the A minor to B7.
[E]
[Bm] And this is the part that goes doo doo doo doo doo
you know [A#] with the little [C] middle A section.
So you [B] end on that [E] right
[A] that's
the tricky part and probably the the only [B] remotely difficult part about the
song is hitting that E to [D#] B7 but only [E] those three.
So it's like you were
barring a B7 like this you know with the all the way across at the second
fret and then D at the [B] fourth and B at the fourth [Gm] but you're only playing those
middle strings of it.
So [F#m] you're only playing the D G and B string.
[A] [E] So E [F#m] B7
[Bm] then that same E7 again.
[A] A E [E] [Bm] and [A] [E]
[A] [E] [C#] then C sharp [F#] 7 F sharp [B]
B7.
[E] That starts over at
the top again and you're basically done from there.
[B] Ends on another B7.
So those
are all the chords and all the segments of it sections of it and I think if you
just sit with those and then play along with pick [N] up pick out any of the
versions of that song that are on YouTube and get the order of it.
It's
really pretty simple except for I [B] think anyway the the tricky part is
[A] [E] [A]
[E] [A] [E]
[C#] [B] [E] and that's really it.
[A] So if you have any questions let me know but I doubt
