Right now we've got a very personal message for the Bee Gees.
Come to one of the hottest groups in the world, they're molten lava hot.
Like everybody else with us tonight, it's pretty clear that they love the Bee Gees too.
Destiny's Child.
What's up, I'm Beyonce.
Hello, I'm Michelle.
Hey, I'm Kelly.
And we're Destiny's Child.
Hi guys, congratulations on your new album.
We think it is wonderful how you keep creating and writing these wonderful hit songs.
Please, maybe one day you'll write one of those hit songs just for us.
Just like the one that we recorded, Emotions.
And we thank you and we appreciate you for recording all of those wonderful Bee Gee classics.
We love you.
Congratulations.
The Bee Gees are in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
A question.
Tell me what it meant to have the Bee Gees being inducted in both of those Hall of Fames.
Let's start with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Wow.
Well, it was always a dream, obviously, and we missed a couple of years.
They didn't vote us in for a couple of years.
And then suddenly we got in, it was the greatest shock of our lives.
You know, it was just, I mean, we never even thought of ourselves as rock and roll artists.
So it was just an incredible buzz.
And so we'll never forget it.
Well, the greatest buzz was being inducted.
Yes, what Maurice is going to say is right.
The greatest buzz of being inducted in the Hall of Fame was having Brian Wilson induct us.
And he actually sang Too Much Heaven, which was even a bigger buzz.
But the Songwriters Hall of Fame is to us the ultimate.
Why?
Why?
Because we're songwriters.
That's what we do.
What does it mean to you to have the lyrics and the music that you're putting down in a hotel room someplace or on the road,
that years later, all these people, they're all singing along with you?
Unbelievable.
Just unbelievable.
To us, it's just a dream come true.
I mean, our dreams constantly come true.
Not always, but, you know, when they do, it's just an amazing thing.
The one you had the other night didn't come true.
No, that one didn't come true.
What, are you talking about the Letterman show?
Yes.
Now, one thing about songwriters, a lot of people, you've written songs for other people,
Islands in the Stream, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
For a year, I was walking around going, and we have nothing to be guilty.
But you did have something to be guilty for. That's right.
Celine Dion.
Robin, what's your favorite cover of a BG song?
I've got quite a few.
I do like Woman in Love.
But that's not a cover.
That was an original song.
[Am] There are many covers.
I particularly like the upcoming Destiny's Child version of Emotion, which comes out.
That's an unbelievable version.
And, yeah, there's been covers.
I Like to Love Somebody has been covered by many people.
Al Green.
Al Green, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.
Great version.
Well, I know that we couldn't do all of them tonight, but I know you have something sort of worked up
to sort of help us get through our, we can't get to all of the songs tonight.
What have you got for us?
Well, it's a pop fury.
I do like to be beside the seaside.
