Alright, this is Bob Dylan's Knockin' on Heaven's Door, the easy way and the correct way.
Starting
off, make sure your guitar is properly tuned [E] in standard E tuning.
Alright, and four chords
you've got to know for this song, okay?
[G] Very, very easy song to play.
Alright, G, G, [D] D,
A [Am] minor, [B] and [C] C.
[E] The only variation you've got to know, remember your A minor and C?
Know how to put your pinky [G] on that third fret E [Bb] string, okay?
We're going to use that in
this song.
[Em] It actually makes the song.
In the recording you can hear it very, very clear.
[B] It really stands out, okay?
[G] So let's go back to the chord [G] progression, alright?
The whole
song, the chord progression is G, [D] G, A minor [Am] 7th, or A minor, [A] and then we put that pinky
[Am] on, [G] and then it's G, [D] G, [C] C, and then we put that pinky on, alright?
And it's [F] over and
over like that.
So basically [Gb] it's G, D, then either A minor or [G] C, okay?
So, entire song
constantly repeats itself, that chord [E] progression.
Now here's how we play it, okay?
[G] [D]
[Am] [Am] [G]
[D] [C]
[G] Alright,
you hear how I put my pinky [A] on in the progression when it goes G, D, and either A minor [Bm] or C.
On the A minor or the C, halfway through playing it, I put my pinky on, okay?
I'll play it
very slowly so you can kind of see it and hear it, okay?
So, watch very [G] closely.
[D] [Am]
See
that?
Alright, then back [G] to G.
[D]
[G] [C]
[G] It's probably about two-thirds of the way through when I
put my pinky on there, [B] okay?
But you should be able to hear it, alright?
And so, all I'm
doing on each chord is basically the first strum I do is [Ab] kind of a deep, [G] heavy, hard
strum.
It's a down strum, okay?
So, [D]
[G] alright, so down, that one hard strum, then down up,
down up, down up, down up, down up, down up, and [D] D, down, down up, down up, down up, then
A minor, [Am] down up, down up, down up, down up.
I think it's maybe [A] four down ups [G] and then
that's when I put my pinky on, okay?
[Am]
Back to G.
Down, down up, down up, down [D] up, D, down, down up, down up, down up, [C] C, down up, down up, down up, down up, pinky, [G] back to G.
[D] [Am]
Alright, see that?
[G]
[D]
[C]
[G]
Not a hard song [Bb] to learn, okay?
It really
isn't.
It's just a couple chords [E] and [C] knowing when to put your pinky on.
Hopefully, when
I slow it down, you can see and hear the difference to when [A] I have my pinky [Bm] off to when it's on,
okay?
One last time, I'll play [Bb] through it just to [B] play through it again and show you
again and [G] that will be it, okay?
So, [D] [Am]
[G]
[D] [C] [G]
[D] [Am]
[G] [D] [C]
[G] alright, not bad.
Really not a hard song.
The strumming
pattern couldn't be easier with the down, [Bm] down up, down up, down up, down up, okay?
So, please let me know what you think.
