[Bb] [Eb]
This guitar was [C] just so easy to build.
[Eb]
It was like one of those [F] guitars that just kind of [Eb] flowed.
And I just got inspired to build it.
[Bb] [Eb] Tony was very [Ab] generous with his time.
He would always [Eb]
take the time to play a guitar [Abm] and tell [Bb] me what he liked or didn't [Eb] like.
[Cm]
[Bb] Six months [Eb] later, he'd be by again.
I'd go to his show, I'd bring a [C] guitar.
[Eb] I'd say, this guitar doesn't take [F] it, man.
[Fm]
[Bb] [Eb] So, one time I had a couple of guitar [F] cases and I had an OM.
I think it was [Eb] probably a Schoenberg soloist with me.
And he said, so what's in the [Ab] other case?
And [Eb] I hadn't intended to show him an OM.
I [F] pulled out the OM and he picked it up [Eb] and he played it.
And he said, this is the sound, man.
[Bb] He said, [Eb] this is it.
All you have to do is put this [Bb] in a bigger package.
[Eb] [Bb]
[Eb] So, boy, the light bulb went off at that point.
[Bb] And [Eb] I really started thinking about [F] the dreadnought [Bb] in a very [Eb] different kind of way after that.
[Cm]
[Eb] [Ab] What it was [Cm] about the OM is that [Eb] the OM had perfect [D] natural balance, note to [Eb] note, string to string.
[C]
Tony was really kind of, there's a lot [Eb] of good flat pickers out there [C] these days.
But back [Eb] then, it was a smaller [F] club.
And [Eb] I realized, these guys played every note on the guitar.
They [Ab]
[Eb] have to be balanced, clear, and have equal [Bb] presence.
And [Eb] he's not just playing G runs in three positions.
And I wish I had [Abm] some guitar strings, [Eb] old MacDonald brand.
I'd string up this old Martin [Bb] Barth and go and join [Eb] some band.
He has a number of health issues.
[Fm] Performing is [Eb] very difficult at this time for him.
So [Cm] the idea behind this [Eb] guitar was to give a little something back [Ab] in [Bb]
recognition of [Eb] Tony's generosity.
[G] When I was really kind of a nobody back [Eb] then.
And [C] to recognize the effect that [Eb] just one little piece of advice ended up having on my career.
