Start Jamming...
Ladies and gentlemen, Deep Purple.
Just about a couple of years ago now we were in Montreux in Switzerland, recording the Machine Head album.
And this [C] song here tells the story of [G] most of the things that happened while we were out there.
Particularly the burning down of the casino the night we were there watching [Cm] the show.
[G] And all the other affiliated hassles that we had.
Over the period of time that we were there.
Smoke on the walls of this room.
We [Gb] were trying to make a record [D] without [Ab] using a studio.
[G] That was the basic reason we were there.
We [D] wanted to make a recording in a live venue.
Basically [Cm] for the sound.
[D] And the casino in Montreux, [F] Switzerland.
[A]
If you were doing a tour of Europe, [G] you'd play there.
And the guy who was organizing it, [Db] Claude [C] Noms, said,
[G]
Don't put your gear in yet, because there's one more show to [F] go before you do it.
[C] It's a matinee tomorrow [F] afternoon.
Frank Zappa and his [C] mother's.
3 o'clock.
[Gm] Do you want to go?
[C] Sure.
[G] And about an hour into the show, someone fired a flare gun into the ceiling.
Which was made of false ceiling bamboo.
Literally within five minutes, the place was in inferno.
It burned all the afternoon, all the evening.
[Db] And the next morning, they [C] were still [G] smoldering.
[C] Huge fire.
And [G] it's amazing that no one got hurt.
[F] [G]
[F] [G]
Stupid flare gun.
Burned the place [F] to the [G] ground.
[C]
Smoke [Ab] from the boat.
[G] Fire in the sky.
Get on it.

[Gm] Now.

[C] [Bb] [G] [Gm]

[C] [Bb] [G] [E] They [G] burned the damn house.

He [F] was [G] pulling kids out.
When it all was over, had [F] to find another place.
