What a great night
This is for Nashville and for Tennessee [C] to see this kind of turnout
I just got chance [B] to be over the phone booths working with the community center for a foundation [A] for Middle State, Tennessee
And what a great [B] organization I asked a lot of questions about where the [A] money's gonna go once it all comes in they got it
All figured out there [C] really gonna make sure it goes to the [B] people that need it
And that's always a good [Bb] thing to know when you're donating money that the [Db] infrastructure is there set up to [Ab] make sure that money goes
to the right [C] spot
[D] This is so it's a great
[Bb]
[Eb] Really well put together [Em] deal and for me it means a lot
I was here the first two days the flood started and it just [Ab] was devastating
I've been on the [Bbm] road ever since I just got back [A] today and drove around a while
Yesterday actually [Dbm] got back and just just [C] seeing people's [Abm] entire houses sitting on their front yard and just [Bb] the devastation won't believe it
This is gonna this recovery's gonna be going on for a long [A] time might be years before national gets back to where it is
So this is just the start of a of a good thing
What a good thing it's the start of and [C] this is a big deal for me to sing on this stage
[A] Anytime certainly for something like this and I'm thinking all week at the right song to do and
[C] My buddy Sam [Bb] Bush from the greatest mainland players
[Db] I
[G] [Ab] [Db]
[Dm] dug [C] a song off [Eb] of his record of Jeff Black song
I thought just a song about a river and about undying love and I've [A] been singing it all week
So I thought I'd [Ab] show you guys what's been going on in my [D] mind.
So it goes like this
[Am] [Em]
[G]
[D]
[Gbm] All night [D] long riding riding should [A] have been there by now
But these [Em] old county roads got a lot of deep [G] holes and the rain keeps pouring [D] down
The bridges washed out and the rising rising waters of the river [A] rushed by
[E] And I'm up to my fingers and [Em] mud to [G] my witness above.
I'm really stuck [D] this time.
I
Got a [G] good hard locket on a silver chain
[D] Clinch tight and my fist in the pouring rain [A] and the only road back home again
[G] It's all but washed away
But I'm gonna cross that river tonight [D] no matter what it takes, although I [Gbm] might die [A] trying
My true love [Em] will remain
[G]
[Em] [G] In a gold hard locket on a [D] silver chain

[D]
Well, I'll open it up and she's lovely lovely eyes of hazel [A] green
But I [Em] close it up fast cuz the rain gets [G] past and leaves a tear down on her cheek [D] I
Promised her once that I'd never ever break her heart [A] again
[Em] So Lord take me there on a silent [G] prayer with her locket in [D] my hand
Well [Em] the last thing I [A] remember I was [G] fearing for my [D] life
She was [E] calling out my [A] name
[D] Over on the other side I
[Em] Tried to reach out for [G] her, but the break was just [D] too strong
Now the [A] silence just grows cold [G] as the river [A] Rages
All
[D] night long.
I've been riding riding should have been there [A] by now
But [Em] these old county [G] roads got a lot of deep holes and the rain keeps pouring [D] down
