I'm going to teach you guys how to play Donovan's Atlantis _
_ This I love this song.
This is one of my favorite classic rock songs and it always reminds me of the movie Goodfellas
_ Alright starting off.
It's just [Ab] a very very simple chord progression over [G] and over and over and over again

so
_ _ There's two _ let's divide this song up into two parts
It starts off when Donovan is actually talking and telling you about the other tale of Atlantis
And it's very slow and all it is is basically
_ Down-strums and I'll play through it once you can see [C] it. _ _ _ _

_ [D] _ _ _ _ _ _ _

That's the first [N] half of the song basically he plays that over and over again and all I'm doing is I'm down-strumming
Okay, and so when I play C the first chord in that chord progression
_ [C] _ The _ first time I strum it I'm going to strum it a little bit slower.
Okay.
I want to make all those notes ring _

_ [D] _ _ _ _ _ All right, [G] and you see how right before I went to that D.

_ [N] _ Strummed the strings once with my fingers off the strings.
So watch it in closely.
This is the the first part of the corporation

_ _ _ Basically when you first when you switch to a new chord in that chord progression the first [C] time you strum it from a slow
_ _ _ _ _ It [G] gives it kind of a cool feel and that's how Donovan [N] plays this song and then also before you come to your next
Chord in the chord progression you want to do one strum with all your fingers off the strings.

[Fm] The background vocals come in _ all [A] that's going on is just basically [G] up and down strumming and you're just strumming kind of freely
I guess [N] there's no _ exact strumming pattern to this.

If you want to get really kind of cocky when you're playing it
You can play the little fill solo that [G] that Donovan plays in it.

I want you to really listen and try to pick it up by ear and figure out what I'm doing by ear
