Hello, today I'm going to show you a very very simple piece of Spanish guitar playing.
It's just a little piece that I've put together for you.
It basically has four chords and
all the notes are on the high E string.
I've kind of put it together for maximum [Am] simplicity so I can teach it to you easily and you can play it easily.
The four chords are A minor, [G] G,
[A] F major 7.
[F] You might not know this one.
So [C] if you imagine barring [F] a normal F chord, an [G#] F major 7 is actually a lot easier.
I'm just going to remove that bar, I've lifted my first finger off the bar
and I'm going to just fret [F] the C note at the first fret of the B string.
So that's the F major 7 chord.
It's like a
[C] third [F] fret of the A string, third fret of the D string, second fret of the A string,
first [Am] fret of the B string and the open A.
That's a [F] really cool chord.
F major 7, also known as flamenco F.
A lot of Spanish [F#] players [F] don't do
the full bar because it's
[G] too much strain on the fingers and it doesn't [F] sound good at high volume and you'd much [Am] rather
that really cool sound anyway.
And then a [E] big E chord to finish, which is classic in Spanish [A] guitar.
[F#] I'm just going to play the chord and then a simple [Am] melody on each string.
[F#] So that first little melody with the A minor [Em] chord is on the top E.
[F#]
5 [F] 7 [Am] 8 7 5 Then [G] we play a G chord. [Am] [D] [G] [F] 3 5 [A] 7 5 [Bm] 3 Then we play the F [F] major 7 chord. [E] [Gm] [Cm] 1 3 5 [F] 3 1 [E] and then an E. [Fm] [A] [F#] [Fm] [Am]
I'm playing the chords with my pinky. I happen to have a slightly long pinky so that I can make that that sound. You could also do it with a pick if you've got a pick. Although Spanish guitarists would never use a pick. I use one in Calderda, but that's not really Spanish guitar. So I've got the one long nail. You might just use whatever nail you've got. I mean, I'll try one of my short nails. It's not as effective but you could still get a nail tone. [F] But if you actually want to make a guitar sound Spanish that little that [A] little long finger is actually a bit [Am] helpful anyway. [G] [A] [F]
[A] [F] [E] [Fm] [Am] So that's [F#] just a cool little melody with the chords. And then what you can do is strum the chords. So I'm going to do a strumming rhythm which is called a rumba. which is 1 2 3 4 And the hit is a physical hit on the body of the guitar. and [D#m] you're going down up [G#] down. So do that slowly. I have other videos on this YouTube channel about that strumming pattern and about the rummer and about many other strumming patterns but for now this is meant to be a beginner video [F] so let's just very simply do [Am] that. [G]
[A] [F] I'm going [E]
to [Cm] leave it at that for now because this is just meant to be a beginner video. I hope you enjoy it I hope you can play it and I hope that [D] inspires you to keep playing and maybe to subscribe to my channel and comment and we can stay in touch and try and get you playing better and better and better. Thank you very much. [N]
