Hey there, how's it going?
Free country rock guys [B] out there.
This is a good tune.
It's called my Maria
I was originally written by of all things a Canadian named BW Stevens way back in the day
Way back in the day that was before Moses floated down the river in his reed raft
It was a long time ago is when the pyramids were built something like that.
You know, it was over 30 years ago
BW Stevens was a Canadian writer.
That was his only really big hit was [G] my Maria then a
Singing do a country singing do and Brooks and Dunn
Took it on and
It's a great tune.
They did a great job.
They did it me flat [N] by the way.
I'm tuned to East Standard
I know it's pretty hard to sing it even less you got a really high voice
I think they probably tuned it down because it was a little on the high side for him
The original version was done by a younger voice and he did have [D#] a very high voice.
So they tuned it down a half step
For more on that you're gonna have to go look at my lesson on tuning down to E flat
I'm not gonna explain it in this lesson, but I am what I am gonna explain is the basic [B] chords the one four and five
It's EA and B.
You can play that in a lot of different [E] ways
You can play E here a [B] here and B here.
That's my preference
You can also play it here E K and B.
You can play E a B like [E] that
I'm more concerned about this
[A] You
[E]
[A] Now there's a cool riff here I'm gonna give you that riff
[E] [A]
Open a slide up to the C sharp fourth fret
See it picked slide up from the second run
Sorry pick slide [C#m] up from the second fret to the [E] fourth and then underneath it [D] play the second fret
[A]
[C#m] That gives you a minor third of C sharp, which is relative to [B] E major, right?
So
[G]
Now go to the [A] G
[E] back to the E
So
Yeah
[A] [E]
[A]
Ain't that cool mama
You
[Am] [E]
[A]
So, yeah all those [C#] chords work really good EA and B that's one four five and [E] E
E is one [A] a is four
B is [B] five
tune your guitar down to E flat if you want to play along with the Brooks and Dunn version [G] if you don't you can play
The BW Stevens in standard tuning and it's very similar in arrangement
It doesn't have the intro riff like like Brooks and Dunn do it.
It's more of a country feel to it
But hey, it's very cool.
Check it out.
Have fun.
Good luck.
We'll see you soon
I'm riding into the sunset with my horse trigger.
Good night
