Start Jamming...
Today we're looking at Creaky Alley and this is kind of a blues in the key of B.
So we have B7, an [E] E7, an F [F#] sharp dominant 7, and then [G#m] later on in the tune we're also
going to need a [D] D7 chord.
Alright, the beginning [B] is kind of this roll in [G] bass line.
I'm going to demonstrate it one time.
[B]
Alright, this is kind of like a simplified version.
It sounds [D] like in the recording that someone's bending that 5th fret of the E string to [F#]
[B] kind
of get that kind of cool sound.
But we're just going to keep [F#] it really simple for this [B] lesson.
This is going to be really good for just kind of being able to sing along.
Alright, so we have the B7 chord.
We're going to be picking the 2nd fret of the A string, that's our root B.
Next we're going to hit a down up.
Then I go up to this F [G#] sharp note, just one string [F#] above.
That's the 2nd fret of the E string.
[B] I do a down up there.
So so far we have.
I repeat that.
Then I'm going to hit the [A] open A string.
Then repeat [B] the whole process.
So I have E, down up, F sharp, down up, E, down up, F, open A, and repeat.
That's actually how we're going to start our verse.
Johnny and Mitchie were getting kind of itchy just to leave her music behind.
[A] Then right before I go to that E7, I hit [Em] that open A string.
E7 chord [E] comes in.
Zal and Danny, working for a penny, [B] trying to keep a fish on the line.
[E] So on trying to keep a fish on the line, [A#] you saw me go back to that B7 chord and [B] start that walking bass line again.
Alright, next we're going up to the F sharp dominant 7.
[F#] In a coffeehouse Sebastian sat.
And for that I'm just hitting my root E string.
Root, down up, root, down up, root, down up.
And I go to the [E] E dominant 7.
E, dominant.
And I'm right [B] back into my roll.
Okay, on this part of the song, I'll demonstrate it one time.
He's got the B7 chord.
The Gwen Namath choir, just to get high.
In LA you know where [E] it's at.
And we get to that E7 right on at.
The B7 was [B] the same thing.
We got B, F, B, F sharp.
And then that A coming back into it.
So we're going to hold on to that bass line for the B7 chord the whole way through.
Alright, then once we get that E7 chord.
In LA you [E] know where it's at.
And no one's getting.
And then right on [F] fat, we have D dominant [D] 7.
Fat, except for [B] Mama Cass.
And right when we go to Cass, we're going right back.
