A little while back I did a cover of a song called A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke.
I also did a tutorial on how to play the song.
That song is rather high as far as the pitch is concerned.
I had a request from a fellow YouTuber, Ken, to put this song into a more manageable key.
So we're going to play it in the key of G major, [N] which is a transposable key.
All you have to do is add a capo to move it up.
So today we're going to learn the song in the key of G major.
If you need to transpose it, you can use the provided link to go to my video that shows
you how to transpose the key of G major.
If you don't know the chords, you can use chord tutorial number 86 to learn the chords.
The tabs will be provided for you there.
Links for [G] those videos are provided in the description and in annotations.
The first chord we're going to play is a G major.
By the way, we're using standard tuning.
There's no capo here.
G major.
I was born by the river.
And then we're going to go to a C add [C] 9.
[Em] And then [G] come back to a G.
In a little tent.
[Eb] [Em] And A minor [Db] 7.
[A]
And just like the river I've been running.
[Em] E minor.
Ever since.
[G] It's been a long G.
Long.
[Bb] A minor.
Long time [Am] coming.
And that's A minor 7.
C major [Em] 7.
Then B7.
E minor.
Change is going to come.
And then back [G] to G.
[C] So that went something like this.
This is the verses.
[B] I [G] was born by the river.
[C] C add 9.
[G] Back to G.
In a little tent.
[C] And just like the [A] river I've been [Am] running.
[Em]
Ever since.
Back to G.
[G] It's been a long.
A [Am] long time coming.
[Em] But I know.
Change is going to come.
Oh [G] yes it will.
[Am] Alright and that transition we made was A minor 7.
[Em] C major 7.
To B7.
And then back to E minor.
Just like that.
[Gm] So we did two beats on the [Am] A minor 7.
[C] [Em] One beat on the C major 7.
And one beat on [Gbm] B7.
And then [Em] back to E minor.
[G] G.
Alright.
Now our bridge is going to be taking us [C] to A minor 7.
And I [A] go.
[Am] E minor.
[Em] To my brother.
[Am] A minor 7.
And I say brother.
E [Em] minor.
Help me please.
A minor [Am] 7.
[C]
But [A] he winds [C] up.
[Em] E minor.
Knocking me.
[A] A7.
Back down.
On my [Am] knees.
And that is [Em] D7 suspended to 4.
I've just got my finger on the first fret there.
On the [Am] B string.
And then real easy.
We [F] can also do that up at the fifth [C] fret by barring.
And as I [Ab] said before.
You can [E] use chord tutorial number 86.
And there's tabs provided for all these chords.
For you beginners out there.
And then we go back [G] into the song.
With a G chord.
Alright.
That's a change is going to come.
In the key of G major.
Very easily transposed.
By adding a capo.
Alright folks.
Thanks for stopping by.
And have a great day.
