Hi, I'm Ed Sheeran.
Welcome to my behind the scenes of the Thinking Out Loud [D] video.
[Bm] When your legs don't [G] work like they used to [Am] before
[D]
And I can't sweep [G] you off of your feet
[Am] [E] So my original idea for the video was to just have an empty ballroom
And have a couple walk into the ballroom and then just start mad ballroom dancing
And then as the idea kind of formed I thought I'd get two like talented dancers to do it
And then I thought maybe I should maybe I should have a [A] crack at it
If you know rugby players can do it on Strictly [C] Come Dancing, maybe I could maybe I could do it
Oh, [D] did you see our sign?
Check our sign.
[N] Classic
motion picture filming in progress
I [C] always use Emile as a director just because he always makes my vision [Db] a
Little bit cooler than I imagined it Yeah
And this one his whole idea for it was to shoot it on a 16 millimeter film which hasn't been done in years for music videos
just [N] because it's a ball like to do and
But it looks incredible.
[Gm] The song is so classic.
I remember he played it once on stage and then I heard it [Bb] in the album
So [Eb] it's Redding tune.
He did the big, big Pharrell one with [Bb] the dome still up in the back
This is the first one really isn't it?
[G] [A] [D]
[G] Its [A]
[D] choreographers were [G] a group called Nappy Tabs, Napoleon and Tabitha who have
Done everyone from Jennifer Lopez
They don't as well, the choreographers don't but they're fantastic [A] world-class
When I play the song [B] live
[Ab] I think of
I like [G] the smell of the unit
But [B] his choreographers when we listen to like we know like oh he goes
Like we know every breath.
I know I love how everything's on that
Yeah, [Bm] we feel it.
[N] So Emile came to us
Ed's last video and then he came to us and said that Ed wanted to actually dance in his next music video
And then we asked him probably series of four or five dance
He wants to dance and then I said like what maybe a chorus
We workshopped all the choreography we worked on it here in Los Angeles with Brittany and Paul
They knew all of the steps and they went out and we sent them out on tour
It was very [G] important to get on with Brittany and Paul because they came on tour with us
And also trusting them from [Em] a point of view of them saying do this or do that and
Me not having done it before and being led through the motions of it.
Yeah, it worked out well
They definitely knew what they were doing
[A]
[Bm] [Em] [A]
The baby [D] now
[N] You know there's
[D]
So [Eb] hard before but this time it was like [N] I even felt how
That was the hurt I feel like you guys
[Db] I
Mean I mean it's not the first time it's [G] happened
he's a non dancer like he's never danced before in his life [Eb] ever and
We literally came in through a whole routine a five-minute routine
not even like a short routine a five-minute long routine at him with like lifts and tricks and intricate movement and musicality and
He's just picking it up and he's [Gb] get becoming comfortable with [B] it and he's doing crazy lifts
[N] Like technique and everything so
It really surprised me how much I enjoy it yeah when you get the hang of it
[Ab] Dancing is like the most fun thing in the world
[N] Know what to do, but in the lead-up to it was the most frustrating thing like I've never
Wanted to quit something so much
[Ab] Yeah, there were points [Am] dancing.
I was just like no [N] I'm not doing this you got you guys can be in the video
I'm just gonna stand in the background
[Eb] [Em] [Bb] [B] Yeah
Now [Ab] the dancing's down it's become acting you have to like
Yeah, well they were basically saying when you play guitar if you would just play the [C] guitar this
To the audience [Ab] and sing the song they wouldn't feel it so you have the feeling so with [Cm] the dance you have to
Add some feelings make you feel it
It's those details that help sell the whole package, and it's the way you grab someone's hand
It's the way you commit to looking into [Dbm] their eyes
[C] And then trailing off like those little details help sell the whole package
And you [Am] know they're [Ab] harder than you think while you're trying to remember big [C] sequences, and he [Em] he really impressed us [A] [D] Mysterious way
[Em] Maybe just a touch
[A] When I listen to his music
[Em] It's so beautiful, and I think everybody feels the same way the lyrics [G] the way it's [F] arranged, and you just get lost in [Em] the song
Hopefully now people will have an image of him getting lost
[Am] dance-wise in his own music and
[C]
[D] You know the two [Gb] worlds coming together.
It's exciting for [D] us
[Bm] [D]
[Em] [D]
[N]
[B] Just wrap the thinking out loud video the whole experience is great
[Ab] [N]
Thanks [Am]
[N] for watching my behind the scenes of thinking out loud.
I hope you enjoyed the video.
