Start Jamming...
What was the hardest part about coping with your son leaving?
It was difficult when he first was deployed to Iraq.
We never were in the process of knowing that he [A#] was going to go.
It was like a ripping.
You know, I tried not to cry, but my heart, my inner, [N] it was just like, that's my baby.
[G] It's a hard job being the oldest head of the man in the house.
What's it like having the added responsibility?
Horrible.
Just horrible.
Ever since my mom and [Gm] dad broke up, it's just been cleaning.
Just cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.
Do you think it [G] would help to have an older brother?
Yes.
Heck, I would be fine if I had a twin brother.
We would both share the work.
It's tough because we, during the off season, spend almost 24 hours a day together.
So then when the season happens, I feel like, what am I going to do with myself?
[B] I'm dreading the most the fact that he has to be away from his kids and that the kids
are going to be away from their [A#] father.
It's hard [G] to be away from each other.
It's hard.
[E]
[C#m]
[A] [E] Where'd you go?
[C#m] It's been forever.
[A] [E]
[C#m]
[A] [E] She said some days I feel like shit.
Some days I want to quit and just be normal for [C#m] a bit.
I don't understand why you have to always be [A] gone.
I get along, but the trips always feel so [E] long.
And I find myself trying to stay by the phone because your voice always helps me.
And I feel so [C#m] alone, but I feel like an idiot.
Working my [A] day around the clock, but when I pick up I don't have to [C#m] stay.
So I want you to know it's a little fucked [A] up that I'm stuck here waiting.
At times [C#m] debating, telling you that I've had it with you and your [A] career.
Me and the rest of the family here singing, [E] where'd you go?
I [B] miss you so.
Seems like it's [C#m] been forever.
She said [D] some days I feel like shit.
[E] Some days I want [B] to quit and just be normal for a bit.
Seems like it's [E] been forever.
But you ain't gone.
Please come back home.
You know, the place where you used to live.
Used to barbecue on burgers and ribs.
Used to have a little party every Halloween with candy by [A] the pile.
But now you only stop by every once in a [E] while.
Shit, I find myself just filling my time with anything to keep the thought of you from my [C#m] mind.
I'm doing fine.
Planning to keep it that [A] way.
And you can call me if you find that you have something to [C#m] say.
And I'll tell you, I want you to know it's a little fucked [A] up that I'm stuck here waiting.
At times [C#m] debating, telling you that I've had it with you and your [A] career.
Me and the rest of the family here singing, [E] where'd you go?
I [B] miss you so.
Seems like it's [C#m] been forever.
But you [E] ain't gone.
Where'd you go?
I [B] miss you so.
Seems like it's [C#m] been forever.
[E] But you ain't gone.
I want you to know it's a little fucked [B] up that I'm stuck here waiting.
No longer [C#m] debating, tired of sitting and hating and making these [D#] excuses for why you're not around.
And feeling so [C#m] useless.
It seems one thing has been true all [D#] along.
Don't really know what you got till it's [C#m] gone.
I guess I've had it with you and your [A] career.
When you come back I won't be here and you can [E] sing it.
Where'd you go?
I [B] miss you so.
Seems like it's [C#m] been forever.
But you [Bm] ain't gone.
[A] [E] Where'd you go?
I [B] miss you so.
Seems like it's [E] been forever.
But you ain't gone.
It's gonna come.
[B] It's [C#m] gonna come.
[Am] [E] It's gonna come.
[B] It's [E] gonna come.
[C#m] [A] [E] It's gonna come.
The hardest part is just watching the kids.
Do you think it'd be easier [A] if your dad was around more?
Yeah.
[E]
When he's laying next to me it's like we're [Bm] the exact same person.
[C#m] We do a lot together and I just miss that so [A] much.
Even holding hands.
[E] Anything.
It's hard to explain but it's hard.
